Hey guys,
trying to change the lever on my gear shift, got the new parts but cannot figure out how to get the bottom part of the outboard so I can disconnect the rod so I can pull the rod up to switch the lever. I was told by the local Johnson BRP reps that I need to take the bottom off the outboard to disconnect the rod so I can pull it up to change the lever. Is this correct?
I have attached some pictures, one showing the lever on the rod with the powerhead off. The other is how far I can get the bottom dropped down.
Thank you in advance, and I did try to search but with the lack of knowledge of outboards I do not know the correct names of the parts to search.
Thanks again.
