Re: 70hp all new igniton still bogs! quick help
Our boat motors are twins seperated at birth!
Mine has been talking to yours, running sporatically for the last 4 weeks after running strong all summer.
1 AUG, it will not idle well, sputters, dies half the time when put into gear, and will not power up without bogging/chocking nearly dying.
5 AUG, checked all electronics, wires, likages. I rebuilt both carbs, replaced float needles, seats, low idle screw, gaskets, replaced fuel pump diaphram and both check valves, all new hoses to carbs. The entire fuel system is, and always has been remarkably, CRYSTAL clean. Runs in freshwater lake.
7AUG, Nearly the same, doesn't idle well, sputters, dies half the time when put into gear, and will not power up without bogging/chocking nearly dying. I have to be patinet, and I tap-tap-tap the electric choke while I feather it for 30 seconds while trying throttling up, it will suddenly catch and then run at 5,000 all day long.
History: 78 Rinker built Tri hull with original MERC 700, 70 hp, been in the family for years, so gave it TLC in 2010 winter replaced water pump, tilt switch, two weaks coils, plugs, and ECM with Mercury parts, Auth Merc dealer did work, ran well, until 1 AUG.
Thanks for the help.
