Im restoring an old Crestline tri hull. Came with a force 70 im guessing mid 70s maybe. It can with the wiring a mess, i belive i have the motor side good but having trouble with the ignition side of things. I looked up some diagrams and i thing i have the wrong ignition. The boat came with a push to choke and the diagram shows just a 6 post round. Ive wired it up a few different ways and all i get is a click when i turn the key. My skills in outboards is limited so i dont really know where to start looking. Any help

From the pic this is a Chrysler from 1974 and up.
From 1974 they were rated 75Hp until 1978-79 I believe.

If it has the belt driven distributor the keyswitch should be as follows.
Red B terminal
Yellow S terminal
Blue I terminal
Green C terminal
The two M terminals are not in use in this ignition set up.
If it has the Prestolite magneto CDI ignition and that system was used from about 1981 and up it is as follows.
Red B terminal
Yellow S terminal
Blue M terminal
White M terminal
Green C terminal
In this set up the I terminal is not in use.

I will give this a go tonight but im almost positive it does have a belt driven distributor. I will post an update as soon as i have one

Click?? that means somethings getting power, but what?
Test light and maybe a helper.
Test light at the starter solenoid, have someone it the key and see where the light lights up??
On the solenoid, there's a yellow//red wire test there when turning the key.
The light light up? then test at the lug on the solenoid going to the starter, that light up? Yes then the starters not turning over. NO? then the solenoids probably bad??
Do those tests and tell us the results.
Chrysler motors came with a tag on the bottom/inside/front lower cover.
That has model, hp, serial#. post that info ?

-Is the battery tested good?
-ARE your battery-cables in good condition & ends clean/tied?
-All ground wires connected properly?
-Starter any good?
-Motor turns over by hand?
You can jump the starter-solenoid across the big terminals to bypass the ignition/switch.
After you get it to crank;
-check the compression on each cylinder
-check for spark on each wire

Battery os good, cables and connectors seem fine on visual inspection, i have re traced and re connected all missing wires from the motor side. Unsure of starter condition. Motor if free amd moves freely when turning the prop(spent 2 days fogging the cylinders before moving prop). I will update later today after i have a chance to check out some suggestions

Judging by the Rectifier...I'd say it's the second pic. I send
but many people have repaired/replaced parts on engines

1969 70hp.
You need the switch with the push for choke. Sometimes WD40 sprayed into the switch can revive the old switch, spray activate , spray and repeat.
Starter is grounded through the 2 bolts holding it in place?
Pic of the wire in question?
When taking pics, get closer.
