The wife wants to stay in one of those glass floored huts on the water in Bora Bora so I'll make it closer to Oz one day yet.

This time I'll need to turn around and work some ot to pay for all this. :)

Worked till 4 am yesterday after coming back from holidays last week. Worked hours hours ot tonight with tons more to come.

I got my Durabak that I picked up in Vegas from Vegasphotoman and the black starboard that I will mount to the transom.

I'll see if I can take a day this week to sand the deck and prep and acetone it for for the durabak to be done one warm day this week if I'm real lucky.

I'll break out the camera and get everyone up to date :)

Thursday/Friday are going to be nice here so the floor will be done in the next day or so. I'm touching up some spots with thickened epoxy tomorrow, once it sets the whole floor gets sanded with 60 grit, wiped down with xylene and then the first coat of the textured stuff.

I was just checking out your thread :)

I sanded the hell out of the deck with 60 grit with an orbital sander and shop vac'ed. I will wipe down with Xylene tomorrow am and then the Durabak textured goes down. If the weather holds out then the Durabak smooth will go down too.

I prepped the ladder area in the dash area as well so it can be removed and Durabak'd separately.

Hopefully the pic's will be of the finished deck real soon. I ordered some 9" textured rollers and they made it here in two days...considering the border crossing is reaall good. The durabak itself came with some textured 4" rollers which will help in the storage compartments.

I am really looking forward to your impressions on the Durabac, sprint. I have yet to decide the route I'll go on my deck.

Rock On!

Here's the pics that I promised about two months ago :)

There is a couple of shots of the new hardware I bolted on in June and the ladder and doghouse I built. The 2X4 was only to hold it square until the epoxy setup.

The dato in the ladder was done with a radial arm saw with many cuts and a chisel. I could have used a skillsaw but mine was toast.

More shots including the deck sanded with 60 grit and wiped down with Xylene. The Xylene I picked up at Cloverdale paints as that stuff was hard to find locally...none of the box stores had it.

Got some wiring haning over the side so it didn't get in the way.

Re: 77 Starcraft Holiday 18 i/o - rebuild with pics galore

The front dash area has the board bolted in that backs onto the ladder that has the opening cut for the radio housing. That part will get removed, epoxied and covered in Durabak smooth.

The Durabak has a really thin consistency with granules in it. Mix it every time with a drill mixer slow to get the pieces in suspension. It goes on really easy with the textured roller. It wants a thin coat first then the second coat will cover any inconsistencies. I had some spots that weren't sanded perfectly level but I think this is going to work out really well.

I've got a second gallon of smooth that will go over it all and do the ladder and side gunwale area.

Cover the paint can with painters tape so that when you pour it the lid doesn't cement on or you will never got the lid off again. It will be used up this evening as this stuff doesn't store once it is opened. Wear a VOC type mask or your head will spin as well.

I'll go out in a hour or two to do the last coat of textured. I poured some Xylene on the roller and wrapped it in plastic to keep it soft until I use it again tonight. By tomorrow it should be cement.

Nice to see that I finally did some work too :)

Hopefullt the Durabak sticks like it is supposed to as I think I did the prep really well. It covers the rivets and any small bumps but I'll get some more pics tomorrow when I do the final smooth coat with any luck.

Nice to see the work..Love the doghouse!

Glad to see some pics. I'd honestly begun to forget what this boat even looked like :p The chrome stuff looks great with the blue. That deck should turn out real nice too.

Yah, I am with the guys here. Your hardware looks great! I am all ears on your final coat of that Durabak too buddy (that would make three right?)

Great man!

Yup... The second coat of textured might be a real light one as I'm at less than half a can I believe.

I shouldn't matter as I'm going over top with the smooth. I just want the textured in the visible areas so I just might concentrate on the main deck area.

The smotth will be the third coat for sure and maybe a fourth to finish all of the stuff off as it doesn't store and I have to use it all up.

Nice hearing from you crazy kids. Heading out for the second coat...
