Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

I saw a dog-house for sale on Gulfport, MS craigslist the other night. If you have any interest, I'll see if I can dig up the link. Just thinking, you might want to try and find one like that - as opposed to building one out of wood. I know other folks have done that and it has turned out great, but I just worry about how heavy it will be when you need to move it out of the way to check things out. The one on CL looked to be in pretty good shape.

I really wanted to make one out of glass...I have tons left over....but I can't do anything till I get the motor in...and decide what to do with the sides where the trim pump and batteries go...thanks for the offer though...

That's pretty creative Troop . Would you just glass over that ?

That was the plan...but...could make this a plug...and use it to make more than one....

Nice foam sculpting...fun stuff, Huh?

Messy...but you should know ;) It doe

You going to fiberglass this to make a negative mold or will you just glass it and scrape out the foam?

Great pics BTW. Love the Bimini top. It that PVC Bimini bows I see? lol

Sea ya...

I had started out thinking I would just scrape it out....but while working... thought I might try to make a negative...

Like my rain guard eh? Ugly but it works....

That was a cool ideal with the foam. Turns on some light bulbs for me. Really glad you thought of that.
Hope you are feeling ok.
Did the gel coat dry for you? If it hasn't they make some stuff call PVA that can be sprayed over the gel coat. I don't know if it would work for you or not now. I think you need to spray it on right after you put on the gel. Worth looking into.
Take care of yourself.

it can take up to a week for the tackiness to go away on unwaxed resin or gelcoat. Trooper the Foam Sculptor. Kinda has a nice ring to it.

Thanks Bear..,thinking I should have done some measuring before I got started....didn't quite turn out the way I had it in my head...

God to know Wood....I noticed that parts were starting to be tack free...I have business travel next week, if I don't get put in hospital...so it should be good by the time I get back...

Actually I do. After today of on again, off again rain, and finally getting rained out, I started thinking about some type of structure that allows me to work on the boat even when its raining. And, I thought of your pics. I want to make something I can raise to work on the boat but still stop a downward rain, and than lower it for better protection when I leave the boat.

Sea ya...

Trooper I hope you go get checked out before you do any traveling. You def don't want to be out of town and be put in the hospital.
Would make it very hard on the wife and family. (of coarse not to mention what it will do for you)
Get yourself to the DOC Dude.

My Admiral has a little something headed your Admiral's way to help rectify the situation:

Not a boat update!

Went to Dr. They sent me for a Ct...got a couple of stones....one blocking the UPJ....luckily they are small...~4.5 mm.

I've had one 4.5x7mm before. Should be seeing urologist tomorrow or next day.

Oh, and the gelcoat has pretty much cured.

Does this mean your Indian name is now: Walks with a shimmy?

That's based on still blasting 'em w/ ultrasonic to break them down into smaller bits....

Hope it's a quick turn around & the Admiral clears you for boat duty soon:)

I hope the doc can help you get those out with as little pain as possible.I had to pick my friend up off the bathroom floor, and rush him to the ER, after he passed one that was so painful that he passed out cold.Scared the crap outta me.I thought he was dying.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

hope all goes well trooper,
Now I have had to go to the ER 3 times for kidney stones, and a few nights in the hospital, I was lying on the floor like i was dying in the er waiting room, no fun at all, then they had the desire to stick a tube up there, bad idea I tell you.
But what we did learn from there incidents was that I was not drinking enough water, maybe 2 cups a day, now a few years later I drink 1 gallon , cant go to bed before its finished, and have not had any more, knock on wood.

good luck , trooper and all the best.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and well wishes.

Saw the urologist today and he has me scheduled for surgery in the morning. Due to my flight to Maine this Sunday he did not want to chance that the stone night start moving and cause problems on the flight, for which I am thankful. I had a blocked ureter once and that is by far the worst pain I have ever had. I have smashed fingers, cut off a finger, broken bones, toothaches, migraines....nothing even comes close!

I did go out and do a little work on the boat tonight...drilled out the holes for the screws to hold the access plates in. Did not put any 5200 in yet, got some tweaking to do on one of them and just couldn't get it tonight.

As I said, I will be in Maine next week, so will not be doing anything on the boat for a week or so. I will try to find time to clean up after any pesky raccoons that drop by here in my absence though!

May you all have great weekends and get all that you set out to do completed.
