OK....didn't feel too bad today, no fever which is a good sign....soooo...............

Daughter, son in law, one grandson, one grand daughter, the Mrs and I all went outside for a visit........

Hot out there......sun must have done something to our brains...because before I knew it......

Grandkids looked like this....

and this....

and the boat found it's way on here....topless I might add...but you observant folks noticed that in the last pic I bet...

Top taking a rest....

Things in their new homes..for now.....

Now that the boat is mobile...when I get to feeling up to par I can move her around to some nice shade in the back yard....

A little help goes a loooong way!

ps...this thing is HEAVY!! Not sure how the flip will go when that times comes...might be more of a controlled roll....

#1 reason to have a 'temp' shelter like you built. 'Easy' to dismantle and remove for now. If need be, 'quick' to put back up.. PVC worked good... Did it fatigue at all in the sun/heat? Sch 40 tends to 'sunburn'... That's how it looks, burnt, when exposed to heat & UV.....

Congrats on getting the 2 halves separated. Now you should have lots of stuff to work on while waiting for parts & materials or something to cure out :)

When you see the guys w/ the little white coats again? Not the psyhc docs, those will be for later when you tell the Admiral you've boat project glass boat #2:facepalm:

JB...

the shelter really has worked out nice...since the last revamp...and no sunburned pipe surprisingly....

I was looking at all I have to do...lots and lots of stuff to happen now...and lots of sanding, fill/fair...

Found out today my Doc went on Holiday...so not till next Monday :(

SP....don't say anything, but I think the cradle would be better used on MBS...shhhhh!

Thanks guys...good to see it apart...atleast it is some progress :)

There it is, that's the rub. Rubbing does not improve the itching. Sadly, at least for me, Tin doesn't either.

Sorry to hear it's going to be another week. Are you supposed to be watching & avoiding drinking too much fluid, particularly water or increasing intake? Hope you get resolution so you're free to work as you see fit.

Brutha Troop...

Sorry about the pain man... I hope you get well soon!

Awesome job on the decapitation, she looks great on the trailer again! That hull has some sweet lines!

Good to see you feeling better. The boat sure is sweet looking up on the trailer. Looks like the cradle held the hull in great shape.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks Gents....good to feel better too...

As for the cradle holding the hull.....I had to go check it out REAL close tonight after what PMC posted over on his thread....It looks good, didn't see any dimples...Recall that I placed new boards on the trailer..to be honest I did not even measure the old ones...they looked centered left to right on the supports and just put the new ones centered...well it is a real nice tight fit between the chines...I got lucky there too!

The other thing I did tonight was removed all the screws and snaps and the vents from the hull....then looked inside and couldn't get over how dirty the deck is...so..drilled a drain hole on the lifting block(needed to anyway) and then cut a piece of that plastic sheet I had used when installing the fuel tank...took some silicone (this is a temp solution) laid a real heavy bead around the tank inlet and the access plates(which are not 5200'd in yet)....then put that down on the bead...purpose is to act like a dam to hold water out of there untill such time as I have the dog house in place....then got some warm soapy water...a scrubbing sponge and went to town..then hosed her out....

One night uncovered under a tree...there were 8 partially eaten pecans...way too early for those but the squirrels always try them...bird doody...bug doody...bugs...leaves...sticks...dirt from just walking in it...cleaned it out let it dry then put plastic in it to keep that stuff out untill I can get some gel coat down and sprayed with PVA....feed back I got from my question on the tacky gelcoat pointed towards needing to use the PVA because too many variables to trus that the wax is going to work...and I don't want to have to go through this again...whew long winded tonight :)

Almost HumpDay!

That was too bad for PMC. I think his cradle may have been to short for the boat. I think with his talent he will be abe to fix it and no one will ever know.

Just one of the great things of getting to work outside on the boat. No squirrels here but cats and dogs and rabbits.
From your pics the hull looked great.

Nice job on the decap and move to the trailer. I'm sure you are right about it being a pain to flip, it is probably pretty heavy. Hope the pain goes away soon so you can move on with your restore.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Little bit of piddle work tonight....got all the hardware removed from the cap. snaps...aluminum trim....teak..ready to start some sanding..only got no supplies :(

Here is the little lid/flap deal I put over the tank inlet until I get the doghouse covering it...

And...just because I gave Capt.KB some grief over no photos....the missing items mentioned above as proof I did some work :)

Troop glad to see your feeling good enough to do some needed little odds and ends work to the rig. I just noticed that the cap has the most noticed details on a boat but has very little area (just a thought) I also just noticed that your craddle is built like a brick s--t house you must have enough lumber in that thing to guild a garage or at least a good start to one. Well anyway almost over the hump weekend in sight!

Ya Fanny it might be a little over kill huh?

I am sitting here thinking about the flip and how I will hold it up.....guess I just need to build a cube or a couple of saw bucks and set it down right on the deck surface....will have to start taking some measurements to see how tall it will have to be.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

The flip would make me nervous as all get out especially after all that work you have in her. Maybe a controlled roll over onto some tires or something softer than the ground.

Flips are always nerve racking but once it's flipped and on solid ground ,not to mention a half downed frosty beverage , Ya feel like you are actually gitting something done .. That is until all the sanding and fairing starts.. :)

Looking at the boat on the trailer I think I would put some 2x4's going from starboard to port and screw them in using the holes left from removeing the cap before I tried to flip the boat.

Gee whiz, Troop...I look away for a couple of days and you get all this accomplished...a man in your condition...heck, I better man-up and stop whining and get some boat work done...you are cranking!

I have a flip suggestion, it has to do with a controlled roll over...

You could build in some temporary supports like I did, except you can use your trusses to help with the flip...

DSCF1861.jpg

For the initial flip, you don't really have to worry too much about scratches, bumps or scrapes, but you can minimize them with some old tires or comforters...

I then slid the hull off of the trailer...

DSCF1864.jpg

Set up your trusses about a third of the way in from each end...get some ropes/pulleys/ratchet straps/etc...hung from the trusses, and use them to lift one side, then some more spaced away from the first ones to lower it down...

rollthehull2.png

rollthehull.png

NOTES: The BROWN strap wraps under the hull, in effect helping to pull it over...
The Hull is on the ground ...

After sanding/fairing/painting...reverse and repeat...:)

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

I like all the ideas and help folks...for sure will add some 2x4's across and GT you are spot on for what I had in mind...a controlled roll...thing is too heavy for anything else....I'll get the blocks in Saturday to strengthen the sides too...wifey has already disowned me from all the towels I have used...doubt there is any chance I can take the comforters out there for a little while...

It would be really nice if you could use something like WOG built so you could roll the boat around after the flip.
