Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Wifey has already disowned me from all the towels I have used...doubt there is any chance I can take the comforters out there for a little while...

Goodwill/thrift store, go on bulk houseware day... Paper grocery bag full = $5 ;) Comforters cheap too. I dig thru, find the ugly & the imperfect. My glass dust covered hide don't care, & the boat doesn't either. In certain light, the ugly towel makes us both look better....

I still use the towels I bought to drag the Merc650 back at Xmas, after a regular shower. Still smell of 2cyl oil & pre-mix :D

and I like it.............

Is that ^^^ wrong?

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

All good points guys....Maybe I could talk the local goodwill into letting me buy a whole rack of clothing to lay under it? lol

Tonight I made the 2x4 pieces to stretch across the hull...didn't put them in yet...got glassing to do in the am.

Also went ahead and put in the transom drain tube...1/2" hole I had was not going to cut it if we get any rain...and I don't want water up in the fuel compartment...hind sight...wishing I had put in some sort of rubber boot to put the hoses through...that would keep it dry....

When it comes to the blocks in the morning, my plan is just acetone wash the contacting points on the hull...then spread PB on hull and the backs of the bare wood blocks...push it against the hull and move to the next one....making fillet with the excess oozing out from behind the blocks...let that set then a layers each of CSM/1708...and done....

That sounds like the best way on the blocks. Quick, strong and fast.
Don't over do it in the heat this weekend.
Hope you have a good productive weekend too.

Got started early today, good thing too.....already 90 and climbing...

Got the blocks put in on both sides....fillets on 90% of them...last batch didn't go as far as I had hoped....feel heat stroke coming on so caling it quits till later this afternoon...

Was hoping to get the csm/1708 on the blocks today, however I am almost out of mekp....doubt I can find any local today.....bummer....

Will post some pics after I cool down....

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Here are the pics...I used 1 liter of resin for every three blocks!

It really stiffened the sides up though...

Let this cure...a little grinding on the high spots...and I can start the csm/1708...Down to 2.5 gals of resin...and 10ml of mekp... :(

Make sure and check your hull measurements occasionally to ensure the top cap will fit back on. Don't want that hull flexing out of shape with all those parts being glued in. You can use a nylon strap to hold her in place if needed.

Thanks Ben...I was thinking it looked smaller after we rolled it...but I'm sure it will be HUGE when it comes to sanding....

Every thing is 1000x bigger when the sanding process starts.

Troop, refresh my memory... R U Painting or Gelcoating the Hull? Did any of those cracks reveal themselves on the inside of the hull? And if so, did you do the required repairs on the inside??? I sure hope so cuz, a couple of em sure look like they need it. I hope my memory is just bad!!!!:D

Awesome job on the flip...congrats to the flippin crew! Well done...

Well by now you are pretty much an expert in glassing, so those cracks should be no problem...
