Troop... This are looking killer as always! I love how you tackle anything, like trim tilt pump for example... WOG's drawing reminds me of the car rotisserie I used for my Barracuda restoration. ( It was all steel ) That's a good idea for a flip as large as yours...

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Little update.....been a few days...

Got all the screws out of the cap...drilled out a few of the snaps...cut a board to fit under the deck to support the thin area where I cut out for the access ports...glued up four layers of left over 3/4" ply to bolt to the transom for the flip when it happens.

Picking up another 5 gals of resin tomorrow afternoon.....getting ready for a long weekend to get the deck finished.....hope I have some resin left to get those blocks on too....

Happy Hump day!

SP - Yes it sure seems that way...my wife is like you spent how much on that little bucket?....and you need more!!!

If the plan goes as intended...SUnday should be the day...but rainman is hitting hard tonight and maybe tomorrow...Keeping my fingers crossed...

Scaffold...I had not even considered how I would reach the keel....maybe I will build me something that I can drag up and down and climb on....hmmmm...got my gears a churnin :)

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Got everything ready to go for in the morning...new layer of plastic overtop of the old one that has been leaking....cleaned the boat out...again!

all the materials are ready to go for in the morning....got my helper to keep resin ready and mixed for when I start laying the glass...

I plan on doing both layers at the same time..any issues with that?

Put the flippin transom board on...

Have not decided where I will put the eye just yet...I was thinking I need to draw a line from bow eye to transom...trying to intersect the center of mass at the center of the boat...but I may just end up putting it just a touch below the deck line....Which eye should I use?

I like the single one, just so I can leave it loose and make the flip easier...but it is not a solid eye...pontential weak point...I don't want a weak point .....maybe just go with the double bolts one...

I'd probably go w/ the eye bolt, put a couple washers on the outside of the hull, a couple on the inside & double nuts locked against each other w/ just a little play. Let the eye spin so that the closed end loop of the eye is never bearing the weight of the boat.

I'd use the U-Bolt and I'd mount it about 1" lower than the center of the transom.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

ok, heading out to put down a couple layers of CSM...hope I can beat the rain....weatherman says 60% chance of thunderstorms by 8:00 am...guessing I'll be done a little before then...just have to roll out a few (4) pieces of mat...spread a little resin...keep bubbles at bay....

Piece of cake, right?

Wish me luck...

EDIT: Well carp! Got everything ready to roll....and it starts raining...not sure I should start now...read on here somewhere not to do layups while raining....got a little break from the rain right now...but humidity is kinda high...

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Just getting caught up...

Definitely best wishes on dry days, I have been getting liquid falling skies everyday for what seems like forever...

Wet on wet lams A-OK...if you get the chance...

Would use the u-bolt, screw eye looks like a very real failure possibility...

WoG's suggestion of being somewhere just under the C/L of the transom sounds about right...since you pulled/are pulling the cap???...most of the weight is lower in the hull, which would prolly make it easier to flip, since you won't be fighting all the extra weight from the deck/stringers wanting to flip right side up again...

Best of Luck...:)

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks for the well wishes fellas...so the plan begins...

Originally I had planned on just 2 strips of CSM, meeting in the center of the hull...going bow to stern..Was not liking how the roll would ned to be bent almost in the middle to meet the sides of the hull...sooo....
DSC01255.jpg

I cut 2 of my rolls in half..re-rolled them so I have 2 rolls with 2 layers each...same with the other 2 rolls, which I left 50" wide...

I will rol the 50" down the center of deck...the 25" ones will go down the sides..I think it wil be much easier to handle this way....

Took a new cheap mop....dipped in acetone to wash the deck down...glad I wored my respirator! The fumes were so bad by time I finished...I was down low picking up lint left by the mop and the fumes were burning my eyes...Letting them die down before going out and starting the resin rolling....I also am only wearing a couple pair of socks...covered with a couple plastic bags...that way the stick is only on the bags...held up with the strap from my kneepads...working pretty good...

Rain is at bay for the time being...

Supposed to be at the Dr. Office in a couple hours.....I may be late ;)

Yep you can as long as it stays physically dry. I might turn milky on you but that will not affect the bond. You can use a tad more MEKP to make it a bit more quick curing to help too.

Is the entire Deck a large layup?

Also...think I can stop this midstride if needed?I mean say I am rolling my first roll out..Will it hurt to only have part of it in resin? Can I start out where I left off?
