If you had a backup disc with 24 grit resin coated sanding discs there wouldn't be a need to go back and do it again. Personally I'd only want to do the Grinding ONCE!!! That's the absolute worst part of the restoration. No way would I want to do it more than once.

Never have truer words been spoken. I'll pick some up this weekend since I won't be near a hardware store sooner than that. Just hate to slow the progress down ya know

Well, my brother is being weird about the shop. One minute he is telling me to move in, the next he's telling me I need a good shade tree to do my glassing under. So I'm not really sure what he is gonna do.

That being said I am considering building a temporary shelter to keep it under. Something like this:

Then covering it with a 20' x 30' tarp. It's a pretty cheap build and can be moved as needed during grass cutting season. I would prefer the shop but my brother sucks at giving definite answers.

My boat is 17' long by itself. 20' with the trailer tongue which I don't care if it gets covered. So I'm gonna build it 20' long. And I'm gonna have it 10' wide since my boat is roughly 6' wide that will give me 2' on each side to walk around. And of course it'll be over head high

be sure to put alot of weight on the bottom or tie-downs. I thought I had mine done up good when my baby called me at work and said the boat shed is upside down.......I thought I was having a heart attack. Lol

Did you install yours as one solid piece or in strips? I saved every strip on the port side since they were in better shape and I was considering tracing them out onto a sheet of 1/2" ply as one whole piece. But the more I think about their purpose I wonder if they're in strips to allow them to flex at those points in choppy water. I could be entirely wrong. My boat has 3 sets of those strips. One being the one shown in the pictures above, another residing underneath the flotation foam between the stringers and the deck. And one that the deck rests on.
After seeing the same in my boat I decided the strips were there because the factory had a pile of scraps and used them to be cheap. Same goes for the ones on the sides that the deck screws into.

Hey Dillon, just a couple of things you might try out. Baby powder (talc) and disposable filter bags for the vac. The bags, high efficiency ones, will keep the filter clean. Looking good!

Okay, I have my temporary shelter laid out in thought at this point. I need it to be 20' long x 10' wide (possibly 12'). This will completely cover my boat even with my trailer tongue inside it and give me 2-3' on the side to walk around. For my hoops they will either be two 10' sections with a cross member in the center or four 5' sections with a cross member at each intersection. The cross members will of course run the entire length of the shelter. The 5' sections and 3 cross members will no doubt be the more structurally sound option but it will also jack the cost up. With the 1 cross member I am looking at $52 dollars and with the 3 cross members I am looking at almost $84.

Not a lot of money but again it isn't a permanent thing so I would like to keep cost down ya know? But I also don't want it collapsing on me when underneath it.

To do the 3 cross member shelter I will need:

16 - 1" PVC in 10' lengths cut down to 5' lengths
6 - 1" PVC 90 D T's
9 - 1" PVC 4-Way Cross's

I have the glue and cleaner already from a previous DIY PVC project. And we have some rebar laying around that just needs to be cut to length.

My hoops will be spaced 5' apart and bent to fit over pieces of 2' rebar driven into the ground 1' as stakes.

The two outer hoops will each have 3 1" PVC 90 D T's all facing inward. The 3 inner hoops will all have 1" PVC 4-Way Cross's.
