That is some very interesting tid bits of info on the canvas. I would thought the lighter the cooler. Oh Well.
It would be great if this gel coat does hold up as well. Could make it alot easier for you.

Good info on the canvas there CK, as well as the Gel Coat. I hope it is a durable as the other. It would be so much easier and probably gain a lot of popularity on here i would think.

Not sure about cooler. The guy was referencing how long the canvas and zippers last. I think the darker the hotter still stands.

Hey Capt.,
Just got caught up on your thread here and I gotta say it's been a lot of fun so far. I would say I feel your pain about the computer but the admiral claimed my laptop years ago and I've been mobile only ever sense. As a thought and one that's most likely a day late and a dollar short at this point, if you want to isolate a tank from the hull I'd recommend a piece of conveyor belt. My dad cut a scrap piece (It was considered to be worn out at the chip mill they were renovating.) to use as a bedliner about 18 or 19 years ago and my brother still uses it. You may have trouble finding a piece but if you can it should work great. Would also make a nice no slide mat in the extera. Seriously my dad was a traveling construction worker and on a bet he sat a paint can on the thing in Oklahoma then drove back to Georgia without it moving.

It'd be nice if old truck inner tubes were still available for that use. Heck, I'd just like to have a 16" tube to float around on in the river.

That's an easy one bamaman just go to any tire place that works on container tires. (almost all commercial tire shops do) and get one. Container chassis's still use the old two piece rim with tire tube and flap. Not only is it cheaper for them but since 18 wheelers don't use em driver's can't ....um... borrow em. A tube and flap usually runs us either $12 or $24 I can't remember which right now. Should be less without the flap. Don't know that I'd use one for the tank as it'd be too thin I think. I had thought of recommending the Capt. use tread off blown truck tires but they'd stink in the heat and the steel bands would rust not worth it even at the price point of free.

Hummm. Good things to think about. I did build the support system for the water tank, but I do want to cover the contact areas with some type of rubber. Thanks for reminding about the steel bands rusting. Definitely not good.

I still have to build the fuel tank support system.

Not sure, gotta do some Homework on that...

Edit; ooops! plastic water tank...OK...I was thinking aluminum fuel tank...my bad...:facepalm:

depending on how much rubbing and or contact you expect the rubber flap used inside a container tire might work. It's a good bit thicker than the tube is say maybe 4x and made from a stiffer rubber. If the tank has zero chance of moving and this is just a dread naught deal then consider the flap it would be much easier to find than the conveyor belt which is seriously heavy duty, maybe 3/8" thick or so and much heavier than it looks.

Seriously my dad was a traveling construction worker and on a bet he sat a paint can on the thing in Oklahoma then drove back to Georgia without it moving.

Your dad sat on a paint can from OK to GA that must have hurt.

[h=1]Great Day ? I Touched The Bassassin[/h]It was a really great day. Huge gun show in Miami, making new friends, and paying a much anticipated visit to the Bassassin.

THE BASASSIN

First, I have to show you a picture of the Bassassin. Yes, you?ve all seen pictures of it before, but this is a picture I actually took myself:

All of you know what a great guy he is from your interactions here on iboats. But I can tell you, in person, he?s just the best kind of person you?d ever want to meet. It?s great to form relationships on iboats, but when you finally have a chance to get together, it makes it all the better.

DAY?S LOG

Now for the day?s log. Mrs. Kick Back and I planned to meet Mr. and Mrs. GT1000000 at 10:00 AM outside the Miami Gun Show, but I missed my exit, so we were 15 minutes late. By the time we met up, the ticket line was huge. So many people wanting to buy guns. Amazing.

I had thought we would spend a couple of hours there and then head out for lunch. But I don?t think we left until about 3:30. Lots to see. I learned a lot about guns and ammunition from GT, which made it better than the usual gun show.
Mrs Kick Back and I had planned to have our carry permits back by now, but everyone says so many people are getting them, that processing time is now around 6 weeks. I bought my carry weapon and will be able to pick it up next week at the Palm Beach Gun Show: Taurus PT709 Slim 9mm. Been looking at it for some time. Pulled the trigger (pun intended) today. $299 for the black version.

Mrs Kick Back wants a Walther PPK (James Bond Gun). But we didn?t find any good deals at the show, and most of the ones we saw were used. Actually, our local National Armory has one new for $480.00. So, tomorrow, we go buy it. We want to get our purchase in before the election, just in case.

Next, off to lunch. GT took us to a great little hamburger and beer place nearby. Good food and more great conversation.

From there, it was the long awaited visit to see the Bassassin. In my mind, I?ve been calling it the Bass Assassin. But today, I learned the true pronunciation of the name.

HOW WE CLOSED THE DAY

Sun was getting low, so after discussing the Bassassin and GT?s tools/toys, we had to head out. But we got a final picture to commemorate the day:
