Agree with your mechanic, if it will not stay in the water, there is no need for the Mercathode

So far as the fill of the tank, I leave mine where ever it is when winterized. In most cases I leave it with only a 1/4 tank. Never had boat gas go bad over the winter and I don't use stabilizer. Will also say I use 100% gas with no ethanol anymore, but when I did, I did not use stabilizer I my boat.

The wrench I showed you comes from Hill Marine. They make 4x4 B3 props and I am the first one which was made the style wrench seen in the pic. Previous versions did not have the smaller socket go clear thru. I needed it to go clear thru because I have a zinc installed on the prop shaft end (new Bravo 3). They heard about the change but never has someone ask for it.

The Merc part is 91-805457T1

If you don't have a mercathode that could be part of the corrosion. Most Bravos came with it. My 1996 B1 has it and looks new. You especially want it with a B3 because of all the stainless.

Ya beating the corrosion, between stainless and aluminum is tough. Presence of electrolyte ( water) makes the aluminum corrode, it becomes the sacrificial metal, those 2 are the worst metals to put together. I agree it needs protection, there is a new anode for the prop as well.
Mine has some corrosion, and if left it wont stop. So ill have to do something I'm sure.

That mariah only seen water when it was used, otherwise she was winched into the boat house.
Now, i just need to name her. In case i get ambitious and visit the great lakes! Lol
" hell's belle" " haulin ass" " game changer" or something to do with being a sleeper. Not very many people would thing an 18' mariah has a 350 crammed in it.
My wife likes "debt finder"... I just told her to go away if she's going to be negative. Ill buy her a canoe and she can name it whatever she wants.. Haha!
Then ive heard naming a small boat is tacky.

What did ya say I didn't hear ya. Never listen to those kind of folks. Now I will say, there is no need to name a boat unless you have a VHF on it. but that's just me.

As for the name, small, speedy and a sleeper, the way back machine is telling me "Vanishing Point"

Yep two boats, and have run the ocean many times but not in these boats. Run from Louisville, KY to Picwick MS and back in the Rinker. Great ride, took about 2 weeks and went thru several locks.

It had an alpha set up originally. Like , the b-3 has a 4.3l lx sticker on the upper unit as well.
They changed it to a bravo application when they swapped the old 4.3. Id like to get the proper decals for it. Good eye buddy! Lol

Hopefully the prop set on it works well. If the drive is from a 4.3l the ratio would be off. Prop sets are not cheap.

Merc tech said it had a 1.47 or something. He assured me the set up was done right. The guy who did it didnt cut corners. I'll know more when i get it on the water. I thought b-3's where 1.50 but i dont know much about that. Like if i wanted a b-1 id need a 1.50 to match. The 1.47 wouldnt work. I read and interpreted it that way in a forum, but its a little advanced for me, right now. Lol!
Props are 26p. Tech said on a calm day she can hit 5000rpm wot so keep my eye on it. But he said ofherwise, she sits right at 4800.

1.47 would be an Alpha ratio. They make B3 ratios from 1.36 to 2.43.

I also thought that engine looks a little short 4 a 350! You sure that's not still a 4.3 with a 350 mag flame arrestor cover?

Your on the far end of the B3 props with 26 pitch but should not be an issue so long as you don't over rev. B3 props run from 19 to 30 pitch for the 3x3 blades. You should have the 1:50 ratio for a boat that light.

Wonder why he said 1.47. Its not even on the chart.
Im going to look into re-doing it to 1.50. See what the price would be.
Thanks

Your worrying about something that you don't need to. It doesn't matter if it's a 1:30, or 2:20 or anything in between. All you need to bother with is does the motor reach WOT range? If it does then enjoy the ride.

My guess is it is 1.50 and the guy talking was just use to a boat this size having that gear ratio and maybe be use boats with Alpha drives. If you look at the possible gear ratios, you cannot get to a 1.47 with a Bravo.
