Sitting here thinking what to say and don't know what to say. Reading what all the others had to say brought tears to my eyes but also warmed my heart to think a person could touch so many people in such a generous way. May we meet you on the other side at that new best fishing hole.

Best wishes to the family and remeber time heals all

Man, this breaks my heart. I was shocked to see LF's post. Spinner was such a great, nice guy and he will be missed. I only know Les from iboats, but we got to chatin' back and forth quite a bit when he was organizing iboats trivia and I helped him out once or twice with it.

What a super guy. Rest in peace my friend. :(

I don't often have time enough to venture over here, so I was unaware of this until TD emailed it to me. He had always been the nicest person. Would always welcome anybody and everybody who joined, did the best he could to help out on the boards, and from the few PM's I have had with him, I could tell he wasn't just your average Joe. He would often go well out of his way to research something that he didn't know, if my thread wasn't getting an answer, or I didn't like the answers I was getting. He always seemed so happy and content with everything. Now, reading through these posts, I didn't know the half of it, or even close to that. My condolences go out to his friends and family.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

I have had great difficulty putting words on paper.
Years back I put up a post regarding a incident, probably inflamatory.
Lester replied immediately..... a long reply actually, and very understanding of my point.
Later I learned how 911 had effected Lester and his family, which at first left me embarrased for my post, but after weeks of thought, I came to realise Lester was a very broadminded and understanding man, and very considerate of others.
We began communicating....when his Mum became ill, yes we had something in common then....and JB, it was Lester who got the detail I needed to get the plaque to you.
You had an influence on me Lester, and I am going to miss you.

Take care
Phillip

I believe you just nailed it....better said for three days we have all watched a community unite...no matter of personality or polictical persuasion the forum is united....

Spinner is very much still with us...just look around...;)

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

This is a wonderful way to honor my Dad, spinnerbait nut. He was definetly the most wonderful man in the world. I love my Dad so-o much, I dont know how to act. I remember him taking us camping, fishing, trips to zoo. He was a truck driver that worked a lot just to make sure Mom and us kids had everything we needed and wanted. He was my softball coach when I was younger. He was there for the birth of my three sons, and he would have been there for my daughter but had to have her out of town. My mother, Suzette, is a amazing woman. She was there until the end with my Dad. They have been married 36 years. My oldest sister, Tammy, is a great sister. She has been there for me and always helped with everything in our family. She is like the caretaker of us. She, too was there, not leaving his side until the end. Leslie, the youngest daughter, is a great person. She keeps us laughing with her comments, just like Dad. My name is Nancy, the middle daughter. I want to take this oppurtinuity to say some things to my Dad for I know he is looking down and listening to my thoughts and prayers. He loved this site and I know he is reading everything that is written here. Daddy, I am sorry for any pain I put onto you thoughout the years and heartache. If I could go back, I would change the arugments and disagreements. All I every wanted was for you to be proud of me. I will miss you. This time I will finish college. The kids love you and are taking this really hard. Because you are and will always be their "Big Papaw Lester." I know you were in a lot of pain, but now you are in a place where there is no pain. You are there with your dad in heaven. I just cant believe you are really gone. Terry, your son-in-law, misses you. He misses the talks about fishing and boating. I am crying so hard that my hands are shaking and I cant even see to type. I hope I can be the person you always wanted me to be. I know you will be waiting on me when the good Lord calls me home. Then I can tell you in person how I thought and still think your are the greatest Daddy in the world.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

Although my interaction with Lester was minimal and restricted to iBoats, the one thing I do and will remember is his signature...

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Having been to the other side once, I'm a firm believer in living for all it's worth.

^^^^^^Amen^^^^^^

Whatever differences Spinner had with his girls, you know he was the type of man to forgive and love no matter what..
To Suzi and the girls,When we all gather around the table today for Thanksgiving my first prayer will be for you all.
Everyone,Lets give thanks for knowing Lester and say a special prayer for the Wright family. We all know this is extremely hard for them and not the way they expected to spend the holiday.
My heart goes out to them all.

God Bless.....

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

As Gary pointed out, we have much to be thankful for this holiday ...

1) For the many blessings God has given us.
2) For the Country we live in and the allies we have around the world.
3) For family and friends.
4) For Bruno and his family who gave us this forum so we could meet and get to know Lester Wright.
5) For Lester Wright, a wonderful man who touched so many lives. His memory will live on as long as we all do!

Thank-you iboats! Thank-you Lester! Thank-you Wright family for sharing your husband/father/Big Papaw with all of us!

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

Lester was part of the Old Guard here. He was best at keeping me in check when I was about to explode. We would communicate via PM's and it seemed as if we were both cut from the same cloth.

We joked about his "little buddies" bragged about grandchildren and he even sent me a very comforting message when my first wife passed away in 2003. Both Lester and I had been through facing deaths in our families...... since yesterday morning I am re-living all those sad feelings all over again.

Lester would go out of his way for people ...... when a fellow iboats brother had a problem .... Lester was instrumental in organizing getting help for that man. Lester was a true gentleman and in his own words "a downhome type of guy"......

I know in my heart that something was not right on Sep 24th. That was my birthday and Lester was normally the first person to post and wish people a happy birthday on iboats. Since early September many of his friends were PMing each other asking "Where is Lester?" we were on the hunt for our brother.

As I sit here I have tears in my eyes and I know he is in a better place..... he is still watching over us and probably giving pointers to God on which jack plate is best and of course fishing with his brother John. I am going to miss Lester but I understand how things go.

We have learned things from Lester ..... we will keep him in our hearts forever. I am proud to have been a tiny part of his great life and thankful he touched mine.

I haven't been on here in quite a while but since hearing about Les' passing I thought it appropriate to show up and give a salute to the man that was, is and always will be a stalwart to all that knew him or were graced by his presence either in person or on the net.

Thank you Les.

I hate that I've showed up so late for this one. I always liked Spinner. He's been a fixture here for as long as I can remember. Always thought he was a great guy on the forums. I never knew he was such a great guy in life until reading all these posts. My condolences to his family.

Lester, we'll miss you buddy.

I met Lester on Motor-Mouths. The first day that I signed up, I recieved a message from him welcoming me. Lester helped my family out alot (I'm XtraHam's son) and Lester was one in a million that would show his nice side. Lester is a good man, and will continue to live in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace good buddy!

I also regret not coming here as often as I used to.
Les was always the first to greet newcomers, including me.
I even remember getting Christmas cards from him and his family, even though iboats was the only place we knew each other.

I send my deepest condolences to Suzi and the girls. Since I can't do it in person, please accept a cyber hug from me to all of you. He will be dearly missed.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

From reading these posts it is apparent that SBN had made many friends over the years. Even though SBN and I joined about the same time, I never had the opportunity to develope a friendship with him like some members did. I didn't even realize he was a moderator until I looked up his ID. Funny how someone who did so much for others went so unnoticed by me for 6 years.

Regardless of my lack of relationship with SBN, I am always saddened to hear of someone passing so soon, especially someone as special as SBN obviously was.

May God Bless.

Re: A Tribute to and Remembrance of Lester Wright (SBN)

I cannot add much to the already very touching and well done tribute. I have learned much through reading this about what a special individual he was and I believe fits the description of an unsung hero.

I have been around here a long time, daily reading and posting occasionally and have thought many times about how individuals such as SBN really make this community a community. About how their personality and integrity can come though a series of postings between people who never meet. And we are all better for it.

Heaven does not have an open door policy, but I think St Peter was holding the door for SBN.

Sending out my deepest respects and condolences to his family.
