I'm curious. Posts keep coming up about Amsoil and there are usually some people that swear that its the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've always wondered why, if it is that good, isn't it sold in auto parts stores or why auto makers don't use and recommend it (they really do want the best for their vehicles). It seems the only place you can buy it is out of somebodys trunk along with the jams and jellys. And no, I don't want to buy any.

Re: Amsoil

They sell it in retail stores around here. Snowmobile/ATV dealers, sport shops, auto parts stores, and home improvement and farm stores.

Our local NAPA store carries it.
I just can't use it until my warrenty is up since it's not TCW-3 rated.

Maybe its a regional thing?? I've never seen it in stores around here but then I've never gone looking for it. If I do a search for dealers, there are no stores listed. Just what appears to be people.

Re: Amsoil

I have been using Amsoil Sabre in all my two stroke air cooled machines now for three years and using it at 100 to 1 which is recommended by amsoil. Their claim is that because of the synthetic nature of the oil less ash is developed and it has better lubrication because of it. My ice auger is made by strike master with a techumeseh motor and using the 24 to 1 strikemaster oil the motor would not start below zero. Have had zero problems since switching to amsoil. I use it in my chainsaw, weed wacker, and leaf blower. Lots less smoke and easier starting. Have not burned anything out yet using the stuff.

Amsoil makes all kinds of synthetic lubricants and filters. 2 cycle and 4 cycle oils, diesel engine bypass filter setups.

Check out their website for more info.

Re: Amsoil

eurolarvae--- do you still mix at 24/1 for your strikemaster? we have had some cold starting problems this year and just assumed it was because of the cold and there was nothing we could do about it. which amzoil do you use? i can't wait to bring this idea up tomorrow in the fish house. this will be worth a half an hour of discussion by the fish house "expert" committee.

Re: Amsoil

google fishing minnesota. I use sabre professional in 1.5 oz pouches. If you squeeze every drop out and use a gallon of gas the ratio is closer to 85 to 1. Fishing minnesota has a sponsor for amsoil called the oilman. If you order it online it usually ships and arrives in one or two days. Multiple nice things about it. Strikemaster oil will smoke a fish house this stuff does not. Strikemaster spits chunks of nasty oil and Amsoil does not. I took my strikemaster to lake of the woods last year and at 27 below I could still start my auger. With strikemaster oil below 15 above and it was a crap shoot if it would start. I live in Brooklyn Park and fish Lindstrom area. If these areas are close let me know and I will give you a pouch. I buy ten at a time for under ten dollars.

Where's Lubedude when you need him :D

I still hang around once in a while!

Anywhere you find it the owner of the store has to be a dealer. Dealerships are available to anyone that wants one or you can become a prefered customer and get the dealer price and have any of there products delivered at your door i a day or two!

All your oil questions can be answered on the Amsoil site, or you can visit mine here!

http://synthetic-motor-oilsite.com/1182429/

They carry about any oil that you can imagine for about anything you can imagine. I have used a lot of there oils over the years but have not tried every one of them as there are so many! I use only Amsoil products in my boat. I find them to perform as advertized!

Re: Amsoil

eurolarvae- thanks for the offer. i think we have enough gas already mixed for this season so we will run it out first. i'm in Maple Grove so maybe we can meet up sometime. if this weather keeps up we won't need an auger much longer. how has fishing been around lindstom? we have been fishing Pelican and Buffalo with mixed results from day to day.

Re: Amsoil

Either your being lied too, or you haven't looked on the site.
I'm sure they have an oil that fits your need.

on edit;

here's a couple, took me 2 minutes to find.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/hpi.aspx

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ato.aspx

I see they (Amsoil) fooled you with there good marketing skills.
They no where claimed to be certified to TCW-3, read it carefully!!!!

They say on their site:
"Use as injection oil or as 50:1 pre-mix (2.6 oz. per U.S. gallon of gas) where NMMA TC-W3 or API TC oils are specified."
"Operators and the environment benefit from the use of Saber Outboard. It is recommended for pre-mix use where TC-W3 or API TC is specified."

Here is the link to certified oils and companies, I don't see Amsoil do you?
http://nmma.org/certification/programs/oils/registeredoil.asp?y=TCW32008&s=Registrant

I see they fooled you by printing it in plain english, at the top of the listing no less.

hp Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI)
Excellent for all outboard motors with a performance emphasis on modern direct fuel injected (DFI) technology. Also recommended for personal watercraft, jet boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles and ATVs. Injector use or 50:1 premix.
NMMA TC-W3, API TC

They list the certifications at the bottom of the description. And as for your quote, good thing it's not a snake.

They say to use thier oil where tcw3 is specified, because it's tcw3 compliant.
How genius is that..?
They can't make the claim if it's not compliant.
Who maintains the list you show?? When is it updated?? No idea.. I know that the specification you seek is carried by at least 2 of their oils, yet you still question it.... I guess you can lead a horse to water,,....
>edit<
On second read, it even says "NMMA TC-W3"... Isn't that the link you provided? I think that says it all..

Re: Amsoil

I don't use Amsoil.
But their web site says:
Saber? Outboard Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (ATO)
AMSOIL Saber Outboard is formulated with exclusive AMSOIL synthetic base oils and premium additives. Designed for lean mix ratios in two-cycle motors, Saber 2-Cycle Oil has excellent lubricity and cleanliness properties to control friction and prevent wear, plug fouling, ring sticking and exhaust port blocking. AMSOIL Synthetic 100:1 2-Cycle Oils have been protecting and providing improved performance in two-cycle motors since 1973. TC-W3, API TC

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ato.aspx

Now either they're lying, copyright infringing fools (TC-W3 is copyrighted, as is NMMA), or they are certified.
