That is great, Jamie. I've enjoyed reading this post. The trick with the bow line (front rope) is to cut it just short enough that it can't get caught in the prop. Blimpy! That's a great name, too. We call them "inflatables" or more commonly by the brand name "Zodiac" here in Canada.

Happy boating.

I ran over an underwater rope last year also on my 18hp on my pontoon boat. But because it was attached to an old anchor I stopped dead and went backwards as it was attached so it was obvious what happened. but if you run over your own rope I can see you not knowing what happened. Good it was an easy fix.

Great work Jamie !!! I have to say, it's been almost as fun half way around the world to help a fellow boater do what you've done. Can't wait to actually see the rig on the water. Post that link to the video when you can. I, for one, look forward to seeing it!!!! Congratulations on your "new" rig!!!! ................ ALAN

Good show, Jamie! Thanks for the update. WARNING: In addition to the great sense of satisfaction you feel for having saved an old boat and motor, you are now highly likely to contract MBS (Multible Boat Syndrome). It starts as a mild condition but can quickly become an out-of-control disease!
