Cool guy 147 and nlain, Fireman suggested that anyone who would like to could join us up around Jacksonville for a retirement party. We are planning to leave Boat Tree Marina on 12-31 to start our travels. If anyone can join us that would be awesome. We stayed at the Landing last time out and loved it. I know they allow rafting if it is busy so we could at least have a day or two to celebrate. We are very excited to get together with folks we have met and have talked with on this forum. So it is up to you all. We will can be there within a couple of days so like January 6 is the following Friday for folks who work. We could take a week to get there or we could leave earlier but I don't know about New Years Eve at the Landing ? It might be too crowded. Let me know what anybody thinks, okay? I have a new Ice maker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Later, Stay Green,

Will have to see how the timing works out with everything else I have going on now through January. I am close enough should things work out that I could drive down for the day. The Jax airport is about 1 1/2 hours from my house.

Work is piling up on me recently. Think I will be working thru the Hollidays. I'm still finding time to fish almost every evening though.:)

If the Mate and Skip travel my way on the ICW...give me a shout!

Carole, Jax Landings will let you raft for 72 hours, but there are no provisions for water or electricity. You can also go across the river to River City Marina. It's an older marina, but they have power, water, and cheap fuel. They also have a giant restaurant and tiki bar!!

Re: Another Florida Summer Roundup

Thank you my friends. I will keep all posted on our travels. John Peacock, I have not met you, but I assure you I love you. Woo Hoo. We called one of your friends, told him our lament over the shaft packing fiasco and he said, "It sounds like you need this done today." Of course we laughed, but four hours later he and his lovely wife were here and our shaft no longer leaks. Thank you soooo much. Just remember we may not know a whole lot about boating, but we are very knowledgeable on business, law and computers, etc. If we can help anyone, we are here for you. I can sew and cook and clean real good. so I can repay any kindness! Hahahahahaha, (Lots of practice mixing drinks and doing dishes!)Our car is sold and gone. Our shafts are packed and so are the cupboards. Tomorrow we clean and post the new Document numbers, attach the dingy and put up the solar lights. A few engine checks and we will be set. It sounds like a long time to departure, but by the time we are done I am sure we will use it all. 9 days and counting. Til then, stay green,

Although its a get together from a boating forum, no one actually needs take a boat with them :)

It's all about relaxation and common interests. Good conversation and fun.

No problem Carole. They are very nice people. Terry helped me with my engine swap in my Tahoe last year. We spend many weekends on the water with them. Any time I can help out I try to. I know what its like to be in a bind without any help.

We wont be making it to Jax. We will be in Savannah through the 4th, then back to work. We love meeting new people though. When you get back this way let us know.

Hey mnypitboat, you have family in Savannah? I live just South of savannah in Midway, exit 76 on I 95, would like a get together but wife sick and do not know if she will get over it in time. I was sick at Thanksgiving and was down for 5 days, so I hope she does better. Send me a PM, we may still be able to work something out.

I am still not sure I will be able to make the Jacksonville gathering even though I am close enough to drive down, it will depend on a number of things.

Just going for the weekend, for New Years. Leaving early Friday morning and coming home Sunday. Just planning on eating, drinking and partying. I hear they have a red cup rule for walking around on the streets!!

I hear that. We do not drive on New Years. So we usually get a hotel someplace and walk or stay at home and have people spend the night. I DO NOT drive that night. Plan is to walk around til we get sick of the crowds and then go back to the hotel and spend the rest of the night on the balcony. We are kidless for the weekend, so we plan to take full advantage. We get to act like adults for a while.

My Dear mnypitboat. I fear there is something you do not understand about life. Let Nana First Mate clue you ine. When you are kidless for the night, the last thing you do is act like an adult! If you do not understand me, I will explain some time in person. haHa
You guys talking about drinking and driving makes me thrilled to say Skipper Skip will not be dispatching cabs this year. We will be alone dancing under the stars and new solar lights on our back deck with a chilled bottle of wine. After 43 years of working every holiday as a cabbie, medic or emergency staff of some kind we are really looking forward to it. Leaving tomorrow I think. We will let you everyone know.
Woo Hoo and good times to all.

Ha Ha. By acting like an adult I meant we can go into places we cannot normally go, and sit right up at the bar!! Like an adult. As for how we act. Well, maybe not so much like an adult. I hear they have a red solo cup rule in Savannah, and I plan to have a full one at all times, while walking around. We plan to park the truck at the hotel and not move it until we leave to come home. No drinking and driving.

Re: Another Florida Summer Roundup

I'm not the one who has problems with plugs that keep water out of dinghy's (am I Fireman?). :eek:I meant I was pulling the social utility plugs. ie: electricity, water, and free WiFi. thanks to John Peacock connecting us with Terry Angle, we are tonight sitting in Glenn springs. We stopped last night below Lake George in a lovely quiet cove and Terry met up with us to show us the entrance to the springs. What a beautiful place. Our shaft packing is holding tight and although our electrician had to fill our batteries and tell us we needed all new ones, we are managing just fine. Of course the steaks thawed out so we just had to eat them today. but we deserved it after walking around the boat and washing the whole thing. Still got barnacles, but the dinghy is now mounted on the swim deck and the State registration numbers removed to put up the documentation sticker. Another days work done. tomorrow we will backtrack the treacherous way out of the springs and to the lake channel by using our GPS. (I may have beer for breakfast.) I will let you all know when we are back on our way.
later, stay green
