Another sad news for UAW workers

Are there any UAW members in the house? I think union worker would be a term in history book in the near future. With all the labor laws in place to protect the workers today, I don't think union would last much longer. All the giant corporations finally said enough is enough. Last year, Delphi's Electronics and Safety division in Kokomo, IN declared bankcruptcy, bought out the remaining union contract, and replaced their work force with non-union worker. Anybody else seeing this trend in your neck of the woods?

Any defeat for the unions is a victory for the indiginous patriot who want's to buy American. The death of the UAW (to me) signals the reduction of production costs and increase in quality of American cars. But will Americans ever build a vehicle as good the Japanese?

Disagree with that.....
There are certain unions that I believe are necessary....
Especially the construction trades......
Others serve no useful purpose imho.....
That does not mean, all others........JK

I may be biased because I was one of the aforementioned......
I think the union appenticeship programs are a good thing....
I certainly feel better that the largest commercial project are built with union labor....imho
I don't think there should be a lug nut instaalers union, though.....again, imho.......JK

I find it interesting that the lack of competivness is attributed to the UNION workers, while the CEO's are "earning" double and tripple digit Millions yearly. Even with that many still find the need to "ENRON" us. One CEO recently was convicted of Billions in fraud.

There once was a reasonable factor that multiplied a workers salery by to arrive at the top level salery. This factor has grown to obscene proportions.

I want to make it clear that I am not a union member and I know that unions don't exist to protect workers rights. They, like lawyers are in a money making business for themself (as is all business).

I work for an employer that has a policy of "Employment at will." ie: If you don't like it get out, or if we don't like it we will kick you out. This company touts itself as a "Family" company. Since the job market is strongly in favor of employers, each year our benefits get reduced. This company's proffits have never been greater. I don't know how you treat your family, but I would expect that as your income appreciated, your family would enjoy the benefits.

I can't help but think that a large % of business would like to return to a slave labor base. Of course they would not be racially or religeously segreted. Just as long as they were politically correct.

To the buisnesses that can't pay there workers a living wage, possibly the answer is close your shop, because having people qualify for welfare that are working, is like having welfare support that shop.

What in the world does Enron, Exxon-Mobil et al have to do with the automobile industry.??

The Toyota is the most "American" built car on the market with over 70% of the parts and assemblies actually made in the US, out pacing all the other manufacturers.

The larger concern is that the largest unionized group are Government employees. That represents numerous dangers to our society.

Yup Bondo, Don't want Bro Haut ta spank me on this, (he probably will anyway), but that is MUCH of the problem here in the UNION owned State of Washington. Unions have owned this Democrat State for longer then I've been alive. Any state work is mandatory Union at much much much more cost to the public then other capitalistic alternatives would normally allow. It's also the primary reason that Wash State Government employees grow in number faster then private enterprize. Not much chance of a change in the power structure here in Gods' country, (sorry: Bro), due to this li'l factor. Me thinks my Liberal Bro likes the status quo, (hint: does not make Bro Haut Cornservative), for more then his stated reasons thus far. But we all know that ol' Bro Haut is real sharp a putin' things in a PC way. JR
