If you were in outer space, traveling at the speed of light, and you turned on your headlights..........what happens to the light?

Are the lights on the front or the back?....
Are you moving foreward or in reverse?.......:D

First of all, you can't travel at the speed of light. But if you could and turned on your lights, they would come on but travel along in front of you at the same speed you were traveling. They would not illuminate anything in front of the vehicle.

It depends. Are you traveling on a conveyor belt or not?

Light has interesting properties. One of them is that its speed is relative to the reference point. So, if you were traveling at the speed of light and turn on the lights it would appear, to you, exactly the same as if you weren't moving at all.

The answer is E=Mc2.....when you get going that speed YOU BECOME ENERGY.......but Einstein had trouble tying his own shoes too.....

E=MC2 only calculates how much energy would be released should all of the matter be converted, as in a nuclear reaction such as fusion or fission. It tells nothing about the the state of the matter.

A more appropriate statement would be in line with the general theory of relativity that states as an object appoaches the speed of light it's apparent mass increases to the point where, at the speed of light, it has infinite mass. (Think of being hit by a slow moving ball and the same ball moving quickly.) Thus at the speed of light the power required to incease its speed further would be infinite. The exception to this rule are particles called takyons, which are believed to travel faster than light. At the moment they are only theoretical, but there is a lot of evidence to support their exsistance.

It wouldn't matter, you still wouldn't see that deer in the road, and it still wouldn't move until it was too late. :D
