I was just curious to see how many of you guy's cruise around in the inland rivers and lakes on here, or all of you coastal? I have personally never been on a boat in the big waters, except on ship while in the marine corps, always been riding up and down small rivers and medium sized lakes in Illinois.

I'm 6 hours away from the ocean, I grew up on it but moved away. Very close to the fraser river so lot's of alum river boats with SBC/BBC's around here but I don't really get what the river jet boat thing is about. I am a lake kinda guy :)

Anyone else in BC, Canada? I'm in Prince George :)

I've got some coastal experience, but now its all inland. Ranging from small lakes, to a medium sized river, to some very large freshwater lakes.

In think the Jersey shore is closest to me and that is 10 hours at least.

I run a river here in northern Indiana mostly but there are a bunch of lakes to but I fish and they tend to get pretty wakey, I think the majority are inland guys on the forum.

Pretty much grew up on Lake Michigan. My dad is a life member of SMYC. When I was 10years old, my dad boaught a new 22ft Luger kit boat, and we spent a summer screwing in the 1000's of SS screws, we went through alot of soap. After that he got a 32ft CC Commander 1957, and on to a 38ft CC Tri Cabin. Alot of memories on the lake, from flat as glass to waves tearing the bow rail off. Im 56 now, and still going on the big pond.

I've got mixed experience. Now, and for all but 15 years, I've been on inland lakes. I did live in S.E. Florida (Ft. lauderdale) for 15 years and did a lot of coastal cruising with a few trips to the Bahamas and the Keys thrown in.

Its 3 miles to the river, 15 to a big lake and 150 miles to the ocean. My favorite time on the water is paddling creeks in the southern Appalachians, but I learned to sail on Lake Michigan.

Does Colorado have a new flag?
Looks a lot like the one from our neighbors to the north. ;)
On topic though, I'm totally a saltwater boater, always something interesting out there, never know what you might catch. That and there are big freakin' gators in the freshwater around here

Central Illinois here. I've only been on salt water one time. USS San Jacinto 1990 as a civilian.

Grew up on inland lakes, but close to the Great Lakes - so got to go out on big water a reasonable amount. Here in Middle TN it's all inland. Every now and again I make it to the coast, but not more than once per year.

Chris and Smoke - I'll carry the gear if I can go too :D That's gonna' be quite a haul pulling your boat Chris!

Odd for me, and this is true of a lot of SoCal boaters. I grew up and still live within 30 miles of the Pacific, but I trailer 260 miles and boat mostly Inland. Pretty much what you have to do for good freshwater boating here. I do enjoy the ocean a lot, cruising and fishing and would even consider a sailboat. The Admiral? Not so much . . . ;)

Re: any inland guy's?

I'm coastal, but the East and West coast are night and day. The East is just boating heaven compared to the West coast. Many times, I've flown over the areas where QC boats and it looks so picture perfect down there; I can totally see why so many Cal guys go inland.

On the East coast, we have so many salt water bays, harbors, coves, waterways, inlets, estuaries and sounds behind hundreds of barrier islands along thousands of miles of coast that it's no wonder everyone wants to head to the coast.

I'd love to experience QC's stompin' grounds, though.

Someone up thread said they were 'stuck' in Southern Illinois. Ugh... I would never want to feel that way.

Great Lakers: I don't consider you 'in-land' boaters. I'd think you'd qualify as coastal (more or less).
