Hello all! I put the Sport Craft 2100 in storage at the beginning of November. I had such a good boating and fishing year that I immediately started having withdrawals instead of waiting til around new years to get them! To all you lucky (I'll say dogs here to keep it clean):D who live in places where it never gets cold, please keep your winter time boating comments to yourself!:D To all the Australian boaters who are out on their boats now: your time is coming!!:D:D The boat shows start in a couple of weeks so maybe that will help. Thank you fellow iboaters for letting me vent! It's all in fun.......... Happy New Year.

Re: Anybody having winter withdrawals?

Our fall striper season ended New Year's Eve so even though my boat remains in the water, there's nothing to do except run it every other week or so to keep the juices flowing. The fish never showed up and my lower unit went out, so simultaneous with cold water and fish arriving, the lower unit broken in, the season is over. What timing.

Put away all the fishing gear, cleaned the boat yesterday before the water is shut off at the pier, got it ready to ride out the winter. Sad.

I'll be out in smaller boats through January to duck hunt, but that's not really "boating" but still part of the drill.

I Striper fished Saturday then put the boat away until March unless I get talked into running down to Rudy Inlet for a day or two.

I run a custom rod and reel repair business. The next couple of months are my busiest so it’s actually a relief that I can’t go fishing. No more feeling guilty for not being out there fishing. Now I can focus on getting these guys tackle back in shape before the season starts back up in March

Guess I'm lucky. After the boat is put up for the winter, if I need a fix, I get my dad to take me out on his houseboat. We like to cruise down the river when its snowing out. Really beautiful. And if that doesn't do it, I go to bass pro and look around for a few hours, trying not to spend all my money on lures I can't use tell spring. Then there is always the multiple videos of the boat running that helps to. Winter projects on the boat to make it better for next season also help.

YES !!! It's supposed to be high 20's for the next 2 mornings. This is torture for these parts. Another 80 miles south, as the crow flies, and we would be dipping our toes in the Gulf of Mexico. Global warming my A**.

Oh yeah....

Boat is 2 hours away and shrink wrapped, but it hasn't been so cold that I couldn't get some work done until today.

Got an HDS7 for Christmas that needs to be installed, and some other repair work that could be done.

Can't wait until March or April so I can bring her home for a week or so to get all the work done to be ready for the season......

No. I go in the garage once a week and sit in it, practice casting with my air rod. Next month I'm going to work on my trolling technic! :O

managed to get some boating in 2 weeks ago here in ND... 55 degrees! I'm having snow withdrawal though, when the boat gets put into her winter home, the snowmobiles come out. Unfortunately they haven't even left the trailer this year.

Withdrawl?
I brought my new 221 Islander home in October. I didn't even get to unwrap it before putting it in storage.
I can't stop thinking about seeing this boat for the first time.

Yeah I hate winter too. Having to wear a jacket on the really cold days stinks.

Re: Anybody having winter withdrawals?

Bought my new (to me) boat about a month ago. Been 2 years since I sold my last one (stupid on my part), so I am suffering big time. Can't wait for spring/summer so I can get my toy in the water. Don't know who is more anxious, me or the wife.
Is it April yet?

Anybody having winter withdrawals?

Never!

The secret is to have enough hobbies to fill the entire year. If I could go boating now I'd miss out on all the Winter activities.

Re: Anybody having winter withdrawals?

Well, best I can do is link the Facebook page of the lunatics up the road, aka the Five Seasons Ski Team from Cedar Rapids, IA doing their New Years Day ski outing on the Cedar River.

http://www.facebook.com/fiveseasonsskiteam

Figure about 34-35 ? and 25-35 mph winds, gusts to 50. Fortunately warm enough recently that the river wasn't iced over.
