Re: Anybody having winter withdrawals?

A little bit of what is known as "begging the question" is going on here. I prefer a change of seasons; I'm sure many folks do.I enjoy getting snowed in now and then, snow skiing, snowmobiling, hunting in cold weather, fishing for Stripers and various Winter projects. There is something rewarding about being in a heated garage building something or wrenching on something on a cold winter's day. Come in from shoveling snow, get some hot coffee or some hot soup and stoke the fire -- it just feels right. ...and then dream about Spring when you see your boat buried in snow! Haha. But seriously, up these parts, when Spring does arrive, there is something magical about it; there is a buzz in the air and certain something that is just amazing.So... Is Winter all that bad up here? Not really. Well, if it lingers deep into March and takes a dump on April, then check back and I'll be cursing it with a clenched fist!

Actually, Phil - despite the protests, you are bang on with this. The change of seasons is a nice way to mark time and the excitement of the spring thaw (and even the winter's first major blizzard) can't be denied.

I've been heading to the north lake country in the summers for all but the first six weeks of my life but have been there in the winter exactly just twice. The second time last winter just to see what a weekend without running water at the end of an unplowed road on a deserted frozen slab of lake was like. LOVED IT! So I plan to do more of that to make the winter more fun.

Dragging a couple of toboggans laden with supplies was fun for about the first hundred feet or so and so the scheming has begun to get the approval for a touring sled past the Domestic Finance Officer...

BTW that new boat of yours is going to be fantastic. Looking forward to some pics. Welcome to the outboard side! :D

Ya me too. Yikes three Hurricanes in a year!? Which part of FL were you in?

I was there between 03 and 05. Split my time between Tampa and Jacksonville at the 2 plants I was working. I can't remember whether it was 04 or 05, but it was the "year of the hurricane". I never actually went thru one, nor did either of my plants get a direct hit, but each time I flew home just in case. My hotel in Jacks had a blue tarp on the roof and the second floor was closed for a year after that.

The good thing was that when I came home I had a chance for some GOOD fishing and watersports. The bad news was that when I wasn't there I wasn't getting paid either!

you guys that like a change of seasons are lucky I don't have a pause button.... I'd pick a partly cloudy day with a high of about 85 and low humidity with a low of about 70 and lock it in for life

I am waiting for pics from Checkmate of the build. I will post them on iboats for sure! For the coming back to the outboard side, is that like coming back from the Dark Side? :p

My first boat was an outboard and our li'l fishun/crabbin' boat is an outboard, too. This will officially sever all ties with the Dark Side. :)
