Another question I have is how do I go about getting the harmonic balancer back on without smashing it with a piece of wood and a hammer? Do they make an install tool?

I've never seen a special tool. We would just hammer it back on until you could start the bolt 4 or 5 threads and then pull it in the rest of the way with the bolt. Tapping it occasionally if it sticks.

Problem is with this pully is there's no threaded hole on the crank to tighten it back down with its just pressed on and it stays there

Got it all back together tonight I am going to let the "right stuff" set for a few days before running it

Much to my surprise a stater bolt was sitting in the bottom of the bilge, broken.......got the other end out no issue so now I need new bolts. No biggy

Yes, I got actual starter bolts for replacements, Dorman actually makes bolts for this engine part # 678-107
You can get ACDelco bolts for the same price as Dorman. I can't stand Dorman stuff...low quality. Since the 3.0 has starter bolt issues you want good ones.

Ayuh,.... I ain't got any part numbers, But I've fallin' in love with the new Merc starter bolts,....

They're the standard 3/8" -16, but with 1/2" heads, insteada the usual 9/ 16" heads, to give better wrench clearance,....

Would you guys have the ACDelco # for the starter bolts? I have used many dorman products before without issue, but on the boat I want the BEST!

So I did a quick search and found that the OEM part number that matches up to the Dorman number is 11610787

That's the # I found as well I just called my local GM dealer and I will have 2 of them in the morning. I will be using them instead of the Dorman bolts. Thanks again! I plan on running the boat for a little while on the muffs to ensure all of the work I recently done to it is good! Will keep you guys posted. Thanks again.

Just wanted to give an update I received the GM bolts today and I am not sure if they will work, the GM bolt head is much bigger than the OEM bolt that came out of the motor, I also have the Dorman bolt, I attached a picture of the bolts for you guys

From left to right DORMAN, ACDELCO BOLT, OEM BOLT THAT CAME OUT OF MOTOR

I'd go with the Dorman. It has a grade 8 spec marking on it. The others may be grade 8 but they're not marked as such.

Are the GM bolts metric? That would explain the 10.9 on the head. They may not be the correct ones. Check the fit before trying them and/or compare them to the original bolts.

BTW, 10.9 and grade 8 are essentially the same.

I still can't get a good read on the GM bolt. But if it is metric, a 10mm is a bit larger than a 3/8 so it shouldn't start into the thread in the block.
