The sift cable `s black plastic sleeve comes off first. loosen the 2 square head screws and pull off. loosen the locknut on the shaft and unscrew the guide with the brass barrel. some mercruiser cables have the brass barrel pined" at 6 inches
A good gimbal bearinf fell like spinning your finger in a jar of Vaseline

Gimbal is good that sound was my arm hitting the metal shift rod thingy lol what an idiot i am

And the BIG problem now is i managed to strip the brass nut to a round nut : (
I trie everything so im going to take it to my friends mehanic shop and hopefully they can get it out im prayin.. damn shift bellow causin all this headache annd money

I see how your arm hits that but the bearing still doesn't sound good.

No the bearing makes no sound , it was my arm hitting that other piece lol i tried it again today and lifted my arm .. no sound smooth bearing

But my big issue now is getting that round brass shift cable nut off, extraction tool ? Or those special gripping sharp sockets ?

If you mean this nut, usually 1 in 10 had water in there and it breaks and needs to be drilled out and retapped with the correct tap.Not a hard job.

Yup that one.. man my luck.lol i just wanted to change a $10 bellow now its gonna turn into a $200+ job lol that nut is in there.. i tried everything but extraction and tap .. no bueno real bummer

1/4 x 18 NPST this is a straight tap, NOT A PIPE TAP correct drill size is 29/64
