Ok, so the stinking painting is done!!! Completely done,,, we celebrated that and our 11th Anniversary tonight. We went to dinner at a place you could buy a car cheaper than a steak and some time in the middle of our celebration the wife says lets go home and pull the tape from the paint job, light a fire in the outdoor fireplace and drink some wine/beer! I swear I wanted to propose all over again right there. Here's the pics.

So romantic BH. :) What did you get Mrs. Hoss for her anny gift? Steel is the traditional gift for the eleventh. Lets see, some stainless hardware or prop, trailer parts or maybe some fancy trailer rims. You could get her a new paint gun since she paints better than you.

Seriously, congrats on a good looking boat and Happy 11th Anniversary.

What inspired you to make this old boat so clean and sweet hoss! Its great that you have a wife who cares about it as much as you do.That is a hard thing to match up on these days.

I seriously just wanted to make it a functional fishing boat and get on the water. Then while looking at the restore threads I saw the really cool ideas they had. Reading Vielside's thread I started thinking about something that looked apart from the crowd. In KellyC's someone mentioned this Sharkhide stuff...after weeks of stripping this dang thing I thought for $59.99 what the heck I'd try it. One thing leads to another and having another boat to use fishing this summer made it possible to slow down and do it right.

Yeah that's the Jet peeking in on the progress in the background. It's the duck boat / walleye river run rig / perch and just all around beater. The most durable and reliable boat I've ever owned. I saved it back in the early 90's from the recycle pile. The 40hp was rebuilt by a guy in Gregory MI and made to fly. It will give a jet ski a run for the money.

Thanks to all for the Anniversary congrats...It's pretty amazing she not only puts up with me but encourages my senseless projects. I came home last month from work telling her about a bear hunt a friend of mine went on in Canada. I figured she was just humoring me until she helped me book the hunt for next May. http://smoothstonelodge.com/hunting-fishing/bear-hunts/

Undeserving as I am I'm still in awe...I don't even play the lottery, I'm sure all my luck was spent when I bought that ring.

Hey Wood, yeah it's shiny as heck...the jury is still out on the upkeep from a season in the water. Something this rig hasn't seen in awhile.

It didn't come with the front rail because the previous owner had the same set up. I went to West Marine last night looking for the parts for it. All they had was solid SS and just the parts to finish the rail was close to what I paid for the boat. I've decided to close it off with bullet style end caps and keep it open for pulling anchors and hopefully fish in the boat.

HotRodSeBee - Thanks Bro', I'd love to see the '64 all shined up. Send me some pics.

papaproof - The rig is starting to come together. Still waiting for the end caps from Defender.

jjacobs - Thanks Bud for the offer, I may take you up on it if the bullet style caps don't look right. I'll PM you when we get them.

Rghammond - It all starts with the Gluvit Buddy. Go get that rig sealed up. Just a heads up ...that nasty dirty old bum smell is the Gluvit! I'll be checking in on your progress tonight. Good luck!
