Re: Boat Names

For a couple years now I have been restoring my 71 Slickcraft and rigging it for great lakes fishing. after completion I finally decided to name her and discussed names with my wife. She quickly spouted out, why don't you name it "ZERO BALANCE"? thats where you been keeping the damn checkbook over that boat. Needless to say, Zero Balance is my boats name.

Back in the 90's I finally got a low time 1968 21' Aluminum Cherokee daycruiser with a Chevy 4cyl Mercruiser I'd lusted after for about 6 years. The first time I saw it back in the 80's all freshened up, I fell in love with it.

Finally seperated it from the guy for $500 after he'd let it set full of rainwater (over the engine) and sink in the yard for a few years.

I totally re-did it and named it 'Teddy', because its a rough riding SOB.

I'm just about finished with a 16' single seat hydroplane pushed by a 150 Merc. Its been named 'Poco Loco'.

Ed.

My boat is only a 16 ft. long jon boat. I often fish with much larger boats so I named my ship --
" SIZE DOESN'T MATTER". I rarely get checked by the water police- just a laugh and a thumbs up from them
How about "14' Johnson"?

Re: Boat Names

Alright guys, need a little help deciding on a name. It's been a long and interesting road resurecting a boat left sitting for 12+ years. And a stringer to boot! I'm kinda leaning towards a name that reflects that. I also like names that are a little fun. So far I've thought of:

Lazarus
Res-Erection
Lust Boat (just for laffs)
DD-Liscious (for my wife! :devil:8) )
One More Chance
Old Man's Canoe

Decisions, decisions............d:)

Re: Boat Names

Our Doral 17 ft runabout with a 140 Johnson on the back was purchased a few weeks ago. We had just left a resort near Parry Sound, Ontario after a weeks vacation with the family. We had rented the resorts 16ft bowrider for the week with a 150 hp merc V6 on the back and done a whole lot of tubing and skiing.
On our journey home my wife looked across at me and said......you know we just have to get a boat of our own !!!!! (she had never shown any enthusiasm previously) As soon as we got home she started searching the classifieds and we started hunting for the family boat.
Anyway we named the boat "Out Of The Blue" due to the circumstances that we got it and also "E.L.O." are and always will be my favorite band.

My grown kids took our deck boat to a "Party Cove" Tied up with a bunch of high dollar cruisers. While "visiting" on another boat, he was asked which boat was his. He replied... The minivan over there. It stuck. We now have it lettered,, SS MiniVan8)

Re: Boat Names

My kids insisted that I name my 12 foot vhull john boat. It looks pretty rough with 3 different colors of paint..and since it had a couple holes in it when I got it. the wife said I was going to get stranded like Gilligan...you guessed it. Its now called "The Minnow" We are saving to get me a new bassboat..once we get it I will get even with her...She has a bladder the size of a thimble and even looks at a glass of water she has to go...so as a result I usually am having to run at breakneck speed back to the shore in the inlaws bassboat. Once I get mine swear I am gonna name it "PEE-PEE Express"!!!

Re: Boat Names

I bought my first boat last summer - a small 14 foot aluminum job. My name, as well as my fishing buddies, and his oldest son's is Jack. Since we usually fish with both of his sons, we call it "FullBoat". (Jacks over Jokers). It also tells of the lack of room with four in the boat. I wanted to have an artist do a painting of playing cards with our caricatures on them across the stearn but, once again ran out of room.
