crocs, then barefoot on the boat, in fact here it's considered rude to wear shoes on a boat because they'll mark up the deck.

Re: boat shoes

I launch in salt water and the best footwear I found was a pair of synthetic leather sandals. Not the flip flops, but real sandals with velcro straps and all. Easy on and off in wet bare feet, they dry fast, and often have thick rubber soles with heavy tread that helps on slippery ramps. When I hose off the boat, I hose off the sandals. After a while, anything with salt water in it will get stinky.

Not a good choice for walking around on your nice glossy white gel coat finish because the soles tend to pick up grit that can scratch.

Also use a pair of plain sneakers with white smooth soles. Especially when invited on other peoples boats.

I always thought 'barefoot on board' was a common rule everywhere. I don't think I'd let anyone on any boat of mine with any type of shoe.

That can get a little uncomfortable in April/May and Sept/October in these parts. As long as a sole isn't black, I don't much care what people wear. :)
