Re: boat shoes
I launch in salt water and the best footwear I found was a pair of synthetic leather sandals. Not the flip flops, but real sandals with velcro straps and all. Easy on and off in wet bare feet, they dry fast, and often have thick rubber soles with heavy tread that helps on slippery ramps. When I hose off the boat, I hose off the sandals. After a while, anything with salt water in it will get stinky.
Not a good choice for walking around on your nice glossy white gel coat finish because the soles tend to pick up grit that can scratch.
Also use a pair of plain sneakers with white smooth soles. Especially when invited on other peoples boats.
