Sometime Monday while I was out on the water someone hit my truck. I'll post a picture later today of it. It's kind of high so I guess they weren't looking where they were backing and hit the truck. It looks like they hit it with the corner of there boat or prop. Not a big dent but costly.

Here is my economy grill. This was cooking breakfast this past sunday in Lloyds creek after camping over. We also cooked lunch and dinner the day before for 5 people on it.

I bought it from walmart for $23. Its cheap and easy for now. I am thinking about making a stainless steel mount for it.

Who's going to Charlestown Saturday for the fireworks? I'm putting in at Bay Boat works so I don't have far to go at night.

Last sunday I had a problem with a stern light burning out between the Sussky river grill in Port Deposit and Garret Island(Maybe 2 miles) and got pulled over be the MD natural resource police. Gave me a warning, but did not know the regs regarding life preservers on kids. Had to put the vests on the kids before I could leave. The regs state that children under 13 years old on a vessel less than 21 feet must wear vest while under way. This is the second time this year I've been stopped and both times they(CG and MDNR) did not know the regs.

I am trying to name the boat. We were trying to call in this weekend on channel 16 for a dock and we dont really have a name for the boat. I would like some opinions or maybe a vote on my rebuild site. I think if you look at the site you might be able to come up with a good name or help me decide between the two I have.

Hey Bill, I plan on being around Saturday for the day. Not sure whereabouts yet, but I will be down. Plan on staying for the fireworks as long as they are only at dusk and not to much later than that.

Nauti Fun is the boat name and I monitor channel 16 and 09

I always thought it was anyone under 16 had to wear a life jacket. My boat is 24 ft, would you know the age limit for that size.

The boat I sold last year was named Babewatcher. The new owners wife made him remove it. My new boat is going to be named Senior moment. How about Alley Cat.

I get the following info off of Maryland's Dept. of Natural Resources website. Looks like the boating regulations changed earlier this year.

Here is a link to the site:

http://www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/safety/lifejacket.asp

Life Jackets for Kids
Maryland Boating Safety Program - kids wear the life jacket

***NOTICE TO BOATERS***

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 13,
IN A BOAT LESS THAN 21 FEET IN LENGTH, WHILE UNDERWAY,
MUST WEAR A COAST GUARD APPROVED LIFE JACKET.

Effective April 1, 2010, Maryland law states that all children under the age of 13 must WEAR a United States Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (life jacket - Type I, II, III or V) while underway on a recreational vessel under 21 feet in length on Maryland waters. Recreational vessel includes motorboats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, rowboats, and any other device capable of being used for transportation on the water, when the vessel is being used for other than commercial purposes. The life jacket must be the proper size for the child and must be in good and serviceable condition.

This requirement does not apply when:

* A vessel is moored or anchored.
* A child is below deck or in an enclosed cabin.

Also a child under the age of 4 must wear a PFD which features additional safety precautions, as appropriate for an infant, toddler, or young child, so as to:

* hold the child securely within the PFD, including a strap that is secured between the child's legs to fasten together the front and back of the PFD;
* maintain the buoyancy of the child, including an inflatable headrest or high collar; or
* ensure the ready accessibility of the child from the vessel, including a web handle.

This does not apply to a vessel that is moored or anchored or a child who is below deck or in an enclosed cabin.

Fireworks at Charlestown river festival. Scheduled to start at 830. I will probably be around after 1:30 or 2 and spend a little time onland checking out the festival.

I launch from North East and hang around that area and over near HDG. Be happy to hook up or at least be in the area if you are heading out for a test run. Where do you launch at?

Been Lurking here mostly we've been out a few times from Rogues in Elk Neck and buzzing around the Bohemia River anchoring in the no-wake area by the rt213 bridge.

We are going to Elk Neck camping for 4 days starting sunday. I'll be retrieving the boat (from home) to do some week day boating while we are there. We are coming from Coatesville,PA. and maybe go over to Havre D Grace this time

Ya'll have fun and we are gonna do our best... No work and no kids this time! I do not have a marine radio yet but I'm gonna take my hiking radio and be on 16 while we are out (don't some vhf's have family channels?).

I'ts been a great summer! Take care and be safe.

Anybody else going to be out on Saturday beside Bill and myself??
Maybe....got some errands to run and if I can get 'em done early enough I'll go to the boat for the rest of the day. Tide cycle isn't the best for an afternoon run but maybe I'll venture out. High tide in HdG is around noon Saturday.

Hi Scott- I live in Parkesburg, so we're almost neighbors!
I keep my boat in Havre de Grace and like it a lot. They have free day-use transient slips at the new pier next to the lighthouse but it's fairly weedy in there.
If you've never been to HdG by water, be aware of the shallow 'Susquehanna Flats' west of the Northeast River. There's a nice deepwater channel to HdG but you've gotta pay attention so you don't wander into the skinny stuff. Have a good time.

We are gonna put the project in Saturday. I fixed the water leak and I *think* that the gas leak has been taken care of too. It took several rinse cycles to get a couple of cups of of gas out of the forward bilge, but I think I'm good to go now. Just finished swapping in a new distributor and will set the timing first thing in the morning. Man, that old one was shot!

I'm going to take her out for a little shakedown cruise down to the C&D and if we survive that, we might head down to Lloyds.

I'll have the radio set to scan, and will be listening.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Thanks Rob,
Our second outting was late last year and we used the small "ramp" under the railroad bridge, twice and hopefully not again. Seems good for smsall fishing boat and PWC's but I don't care for it.

The lighthouse ramp you mentioned is that at Tiddings park, I guess that would be the south end of town? Looks like a nice place from Google Earth. Maybe I'll bring the boat across rt40 to HdG and check it out. Heck I have 5 days.

Our very old two stroke motor loves to drink fuel so we plan our routes carefully and ALWAYS take 12 gals along.

We have been to the beach "spoils" near Fishing battery...and once to the "sand bar" I think it was near furnace bay or Carpenter point, last season. I learned about getting to far out of the channel, having to frequently stop and clear the prop of grass!!! For a first time boater scared me when I lost all power at WOT! of course after that I got a paper chart and of course it got wet so a waterproof chart is next. I even forgot the plug once last season (wife saw the carpet getting wet during a launch!).

Thanks again! Scott

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

DON'T tow a boat across the 40 bridge. just launch either in perryville, or hdg, what ever side you are on to start with.
it is 5 bucks, plus 5 bucks for each axle over 2 axles to cross the bridge going towards perryvillle.
so 4 axles would cost 20 bucks.
just launch in perryville, or come across the damn on rt 1

Not sure i am going to make it as much as I wanted. The truck brakes started to grind last night going to West Marine. Looks like I am doing a break job this morning. But if i get them done in time. Who know?
