Try Cabin Johns Cove. It's on the port side going down the Elk River before Turkey Point light house. Lots of rooms for water skying ,rafting ,jet skying swimming and of course cookouts. This thursday I'm finally going to put the boat in the water. I'll be at Stemmers run putting those plastic runners on my bunks .Then we'll take the Silver Eagle out for a spin. This weekend I plan on going to Lloyds Creek and Cabin Johns cove and to Hacks Point and beyond. If you have a shallow draft boat after going under the 213 bridge take the slow left and follow it up for a couple of miles. Bring a camera. Lots of wild life. We'll be in a 24 ft pontoon boat with Diamond plating around the front..

Skargo......yep, that's the spot......and i know it well enough to tell you that picture was taken close to high tide, although I have seen the duck blind flooded at times. Low tide exposes a beautiful, large sandbar that give a lot more room for the kids to play.....

Philster.....I have a boat that fits that description as well......28' with twin 350's......low cruise is 30, mid is 40 and change ... top end is mid 50's or so.......doesn't do badly at 30 or so, but if you wanna haul butt you better make sure the tank is full......but man does she cut through the rough water...
yes, when the tide went out I was amazed as that nice sand bar appeared!

If you are coming UP the Elk and Cabin John comes up on your starboard, if you don't know the area it could almost be mistaken for the Bohemia. even though the Bohemia's mouth is much wider.

I haven't been into Cabin John's in a decade, but it used to be get shallow fast and had a muddy bottom. It doesn't rank high on my list of places to take the kids swimming. It's nice to just anchor and have a meal, though. Very well protected from anything but a westerly breeze.

I have to work late shift this week and on one hand (the one looking forward to vacation) it seems like the endless week. The other hand (the one trying to get ready for vacation) says "It's Wednesday ALREADY!?!?!"

Last weekend my fiance and I finally camped out on Sand Island. We have an hour drive to our marina so instead of driving home Sunday night and then driving back Monday morning we thought it'd be better to just camp out. It was awesome, since it was a Sunday night there was no one else around. We kept it simple, only taking the basics.
Here are some pictures.

We slept onboard right off sand island Saturday night. How did you fair with the bugs? Man they were TERRIBLE out on the water. I couln't wait for the sun to come up so we could get the heck out of there! We'll be camping there this weekend on the island. Stop by and say 'hey' or camp out with us!

I originally came in here thinking there was a discussion about what girls are best for the boat and how best to mount them and use them (on the swim platform; not with a wake, etc). Here I find out it's about grills.

That is a pay for use forum that you are thinking about. On the up side they do use more photos to demonstrate suggested use.

The bugs weren't bad on the island. At one point around 8pm I went back on the boat to charge my phone and the bugs were pretty bad. I was burning a citronella candle and I don't know if that made a difference or not.

Once the sun set I noticed a lot of spiders in the sand. They seemed harmless, and maybe they're the reason why the bugs on the island aren't an issue.. Overall, we had a great time and we plan to do it again when we have the chance.

You know, not to re-touch an old subject, but not too long ago (last week) we were talking about people sinking other people's boats. I've been thinking about that a bit lately because I just couldn't imagine someone having balls enough to do that. It doesn't surprise me that it happens in New Jersy though. Anyway, the point I wanted to make is this: I do believe that intentionally sinking someone else's boat could be construed as an act of piracy.....and we all know what happens to pirates......or should happen.....

Putting manifolds on in a tight compartment is something I am not keen to do ever again. Got em in tho, as well as a mostly complete rewire of guages and other stuff.

Hope to get back in next week.

FWIW, my boat was sunk as a result of a dispute with some carpenters on a construction job. When I hauled and drained the boat, I discovered claw hammer shaped holes in the bottom.

You should be allowed to shoot someone that does that.

Splashing tomorrow sometime!

That's awesome news! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I will be down tomorrow night through Monday night and looking forward to every moment of it. Hope to catch up with some of you guys this weekend. Sorry I won't be able to make a midweek raftup but hope that you guys have fun!

I will be at the North East fireworks on Sunday, probably on the boat. I know Scott will be at HDG, what about the rest of you guys? Stan, did you guys decide which show you will be at?

Thinking of taking the boat over to see the Georgetown display this year. Anybody have any recommendations on where the best spot is to anchor to see them? Will need to head back to North East after the show so it will be slow going headed back :)
