The Number one reason was. WIFE SAID TO GET A BOW RIDER
that's a very good reason.....

i can't comment on br or cc. i have closed bow w/a sliding hardtop... unique and i think a good alternative... boats come in many different configurations. so not absolute that you have to go with either, or....

i do like the idea of closed bow one way or the other for being out in the stuff.... my old boat was a trihull br and i've spooned up some lake before. that's almost too exciting....

I'm actually surprised the numbers are as close as they are.

Around here you are hard pressed to sell a cuddy. Few want/have them.

I originally assumed this poll was going to be a landslide to bowrider....interesting.

I like cuddys, but for mostly skiing, a bowrider makes sense.
The main feature I want is a self bailing deck. Have fun.

I agree. I also thought this would go overwhelming to the BRs. I previously had a closed bow which I really didn't like. Big waste of space. I couldn't wait to get a bowrider. However a cuddy is far more useful than a regular closed bow.

i find the under bow storage just perfect for my uses. i stuff it full.
2 spare orange pfds, and 1 spare type III, garbage can, bailing bucket and 2 sleeping bags. shes plumb full and the stuff is out of sight and out of mind....

to ea. his or her own of coarse. probably why there's so many different style boats... ;)

Cuddy here, and I looked for one. 9-10 times it's just my wife and I. Two words, stabbin cabin!

Plus, out in 4-5' around Turkey pt I've stuffed the bow a few times.

I see people say that the kids love riding up there, doesn't seem all too safe to me, worst place to ride IMO.

My boat weighs 4500 dry, and handles bigger water better than a similar BR.

Plus I put a porta potty in there for my wife, what woman likes to take a whiz out in the open?

I can respect either choice though, just know what kind of boating you will be doing.

You guys and your "stabbin' cabin"....aside from that being one of the crudest sounding terms I've heard in awhile, don't you know that privacy is old school.

Oh, that's right, you American's go to jail for anything and everything...here the Police would probably put you on youtube, then give you a fine for not having a fishing licence. Sorry, I digress.

So we're crude because we use a silly term, but you aren't for doing it out in the open? Weird.

I think it's crude to show the world my hairy butt LOL. ;)

I Don't see many cuddies around here. There is a dealer in Lafayette that has an '06 Stingray 19' cuddy with a 4.3Merc that he cannot sell. It is brand new and no one around her wants it. It is on a stand in his showroom and beautiful. Summers around here are too dang hot for a boat that size with a cuddy. Maybe on the offshore boats, but not the river or lake boats.

I have a 24' With a cuddy, porta, sink, and ice box. the ice box is coming out and a little shore powered A/C unit is going in there, for summertime overnighters when we are docked. I have never owned a bow rider but there are benefits and draw backs to either. It really depends on what you prefference is and your needs are. I'm sure you'll enjoy which ever you get.

Yeah because there's rooms flotaing all over the water. LOL.

The point being proven here is people like what they have!:D

it's funny, the older I get the less I like small cramped quarters. I could sleep in the car and not be bothered in the olden days.

This is obviously a very personal question with lot's of fun discussion. I don't know if I could make a decision after reading through this thread.

To be honest, we've never even overnighted in it, yet. It is a good place for the ladies to pee, and a place to hold all our crap. :D

Re: Bowrider or Cuddy Cabin, why did you choose which..

Have owned both and I've got a 24 foot Sundancer right now and absolutely love it. I will never own another boat without a bathroom (female guests appreciate it far more than I do) and having a place to get out of the sun, make snacks, store things and keep them dry as well as a "get away from it all" space is great.

When we are anchored, people love sitting on the top of the bow and sunbathing and jumping into the water from there, which spreads out the crowd while we're chilling in the water...another added bonus that I didnt think about till I started seeing it happen.

This was a huge question for me when I bought my boat, I grew up on bowriders and the closed bow was uncharted waters for me but I'm sold on it...at least for now!!

One thing to look for in a cabin is USABLE SPACE. Looking/dreaming at boats at the boat show a few weeks ago, I saw a lot of wasted space in some of the newer boats when I was comparing them to my 1989 Sea Ray.

There are some benefits to both. If I had a BR, I'd have an easier time anchoring.

Caution, if you have a fat head, like yours truly, you have to be careful if you do decide on a cuddy.

Re: Bowrider or Cuddy Cabin, why did you choose which..

I bought a BR as it would fit in my garage, and I had no desire to pay for off site storage. Now that I have it, I want a pocket cruiser or cuddy...having a porta potty would make life so much easier, specially now with the baby. Also I spend a lot of time on lake ontario and get tired of being overly watchful of the weather even when I don't stray far from shore "gotta stay close to the potties on shore for the wifey!".
