The outside means nothing, it's the inside where the drive shaft rides on the inside of the clutch. What does the drive shaft look like?

Appears the corner edges have a small radius on the other edges. If the edges do have the radius then its the newer style. The springs should be orange color. The shift yoke should have a yellow stripe on the back edge.

The top of the clutch should have a shallow grove on the inside of it

The shaft looks ok, is there much play between shaft and clutch?
Also are you using Merc HP lube in the drive?
Post a pic of the shift lever

I do know the springs are not orange, they look black .I do use the same high performance quicksilver fluid.

I don’t see that yellow line on it.

So with mine having that groove in it, am I correct to assume that the clutch has been replaced but those springs haven’t?

Maybe
Not all changes happen at the same time. I was just trying to figure out your current configuration. Appears most is of newer design but not all.

So what do you think that I should do, replace my shift arm or what? I plan on getting a new shift cable

Well I’m not sure if it’s reverse or forward but when I have the drive off, the arm that cones out of the drive, that’s the gear it’s hard to come out of.

In is FWD and out is REV
Sounding more like something with the lever is binding. Is the linkage arm bent in any way?

Maybe put the upper back together, leave lower off. Insure timing marks on gears is aligned before installing drive shaft gear. Don't need to tighten full torque on the castle nut. Then by turn drive shaft clockwise, watch the shifting

Timing marks? Are you referring to the positive and negative marks
