Re: calling all lake mead boaters! nevada

And,,, for all you Echo haters ... Ah, never mind :p:D

I love Echo. I've stayed there many times and still make the trip there for the ice cream a couple times during the summer. Great little marina. A friend of mine had his houseboat moored there for about 25 years and just pulled it out in '09. Many good times. I used to love the bar and restaurant there. We sang (well that's what we called it ) karaoke many times and did shots with Ron Pratte one time before he Bought Overton Marina and moved up there. Tons of cool people there.

Nothing against Overton Arm either, but with it's north - south trajectory seems to get blown out a lot. Reminds me of Mohave in that respect. We spent many days skiing only in the Kline/Glory Hole coves, with everyone else I might add, and out of the main channel because of the 4' rollers.

It's at untitled for QC cove :D (actually I haven't a clue)

My best guess would be somewhere on your end of the lake, Temple? from the mountains in the background.

What's up with the funky propulsion system on that thing

Ditto, and I have spent a bunch of time up there too. On balance though, fact is, the east/west thing makes Boulder more livable for close marinas. And for those of us who have spent time in the Temple and Gregg Basins, well, let's just say you need to get on with your bucket list. Not that far dude, especially by boat.

I used to stay at the hotel in Echo and also rented HBs out of there quite a few times. I love Cathedral and I love Echo itself. The "Holes" are great. Mohave is good analogy. Could you imagine how big it would get at the north end if there were no Islands to break it up  Surf's Up!!!

Ha! Exactly! We headed down to Echo from the coves in heavy seas one time on a 21' open bow day cruiser and parted those bad boyz - horizontally! You could see a sheet of water go over your head. Pretty crazy.

The picture was actually taken by a photographer from the Las Vegas Review-Journel in April of 2010, "...not far from the bone-dry boat launching ramp at Overton Beach..." according to the article which doesn't seem to want to link up

Well, had an expensive trip at willow beach. Weather was great, hot springs were great. Saw no fish other than carp and suckers. But dumped my '76 35 johnson in the river. Still there. Not really sure it is worth recovering. I believe it is in water deeper than visible depth. It was a well used motor but ran great. I'd guess it was worth about 500 and recovered after dunking much less. So now in the market for a 25-40 hp and have learned to always use a saftey rope.
On the plus side the row back was pleasant and had no headwinds.

bummer you lost a motor, but sound like you had a good time.

that river seems to me like there is a stiff current and might be as well to let it go like you said
