Brine Solar. Glass in field controlled by astrological software beams light to a global focal point and boils brine to run steam generator, which feeds back to the grid. I was told that there are two that you can't see over the mountain to the west but I don't trust the source.

I can really screw up a reply.....

I work with many of the subs on Molycorp. No labor, just Seismic Bracing and various other materials, mostly MP&E. There are 1,500 to 2,000 workers on that site any given weekday and many on weekends. It's a very cool Industrial site. My OSHA 30 certs weren't enough to get onsite to just walk the job. Had to get MSHA surface miner training also, Three 8 hours days onsite.

Sounds like you got your certs in order! That's gonna be one hot place to work this summer..the brine solar plants too. There's another solar plant off the 40 in Daggett outside Barstow with the focal solar technology that has been there for many years. I didn't realize those off the 15 were of the same type. I'm sure they are for more efficient. Thanks for the info

I have a good friend of 30+ years that helped me with the engine pull, rebuild and re-install in his backyard shop.

Tom and another friend, Bob helped me make this rebuild happen.

I decided it is time for the boys to have a day on the lake, I'll buy the beer, food, gas the works. I will drive and they can have fun and eat and drink all day. I will take them both home with the boat in tow.

They were both interested until I told them I would pick them up at 4:30-5:00 AM!

It's 90 miles to where I want to launch and 100 degrees already. Am I being unreasonable?

EDIT- That's me up in the boat and I took my 51st birthday off to install engine...great birthday!

Not really, but why so early? Which ramp? I used to leave SoCal at 4:30 and launch at Hemenway by 10:00 If you're taking them to Temple Bar they need to shut up; especially if they have never been there before.

Was thinking about Callville, but they will both fall asleep on the way anyway. They're going to TB. 130 miles to TB from my house. When they wake up I'll tell them that we're at Lake Powell.

Forgot to mention this, but when I told of the boys day out to my wife the first thing out of her mouth was "I'll need to figure out what to pack you guys for meals"....that is support..

I was over your way on Friday visiting the Hoover Dam. This south GA boy was nearly drooling wanting to jump in the cool blue-green water of Lake Meade! Next trip a boat rental is definitely in the plans. Y'all have a paradise out there!

I tell anybody from out of the area that they need to go see Lake Mead, and rent a 'toon if the weather is right. Definitely a special place.

Thanks for the pic of the eclipse skiya!...

I had to go to Reno last weekend (which was supposed to be "THE" place to view the eclipse) and just as the eclipse started to happen a big, thick, dark cloud moved over the sun totally blocking out the sun and eclipse. And of course, just as the cloud cleared the sun, the eclipse was ending. Go figure!

Alright, next up is venus crossing the sun.
I have seen venus, just as the daybreaks rising on the horizon many times,its like a flashlight shinning on your tent.When we think about or place in the universe we can only imagine,why is the so many galaxies, and whats with the black holes, and does our galaxy have one at its center?if you stand on sandy beach and look upon all the grains of sand its the same as suns in our universe and then some.Yet here we are with the perfect planet with water and all the elements suited just right,sorry this is getting deep like lake powell i better stop.

Anyone heading out this weekend? Against my better judgement (hope it's half way sane out there...) we are going out for a day or 2. Not sure if we are going to make the trek over to Tbar, or just launch out of Echo as we usually do,,, 25 miles further to Tbar and have to go through BC....

I live over the hump so all of the marinas are a long way for my launch. Just curious, but if they were equal distance and you had your choice between Temple Bar and Echo Bay which would you chose for:

1. Fishing
2. Less traffic at launch ramp
3. Road conditions and travel safety
