kinda early to be cliff jumping,so sad to see this kind of stuff,I am trying to find a way to make mead safer but sorry to say my efforts arent working much.Anyone going to lake mead please be very careful,it is such a nice place and so much fun to be had,but just one little second or one wrong quick decision and your gone.I wish my boat was ready now so i could be there with all of you and watching out for things that go sour,tonight instead im buffing it out and doing wiring.

Will be back out again this weekend (8 - 9th) and most likely fathers day weekend as well (15 - 16th). The Admiral is more antsy than I am, she's constantly watching the ambient and water temperatures..
After my last "run in" with the idiots at one of my local lakes, I'm more than thrilled to be driving ~520 miles round trip to this great lake!
(Pretty sad, I know.. )

Good luck with the new(ish) boat JJ, that should handle Mead a bit better than the Starcraft.

Sad story about the scuba diver at Mead, those guys are usually top notch on safety.

Call me crazy!!! just traded my 1971 starcraft aluminum cc sole for a -----

1985 four winns cuddy 19ft,with a monster v8,needs lots of work,but its gonna be so sweet when im done.Has engine and outdrive looking good,just the inside needs work so far!new project for me!!

Congrats on the trade jj. The 4winds will give you lot more options on the lake and you'll be safer to boot. Interior boat projects o the lther hand are time consuming and difficult and can be a pia in general, ut the payoff on the long run is huge.good luck with her :joyous:

We'll be out too. Are you launching in boulder basin? We'll be at the beaches near mushroom reef unless beach plans change. Heading out Thursday nite.

I too am hoping to be out this weekend on Friday afternoon. thats "IF" I manage to get my boat repaired after the overheat I had the other weekend. If so, I will be launching at Callville again. I liked the beach area just outside of the harbor. H2odick, ill get a hold of you and see if your out that day.

We will be launching out of Boulder Basin (we stay at the Hacienda Hotel right off the lake.) I may be down to run out to Mushroom Reef on Saturday.. (That's out near Boat Wreck Point right?)

That's out near Boat Wreck Point right?

Yes, the "bay" (The Campanile) opens up on your right (south and west) just after you pass Boat Wreck. They hang on the south end of the bay, on the sand that runs east/west there. All framed by an island and a little peninsula/reef that juts out from the nice beaches. Fairly evident on Google Earth etc.

Mushroom Reef fits those easily. Sandy Point if you want to be more remote, but Mushroom is perfect for what you describe.

From the images I have seen on Google (no idea of the age) it looks like there is at least on toilet at Mushroom Reef and two or more at Sandy Point. I base this on very granny images and one that showed a shadow of what looks like a standard USFS outhouse.

Can anyone confirm what I'm seeing?

There are definitely multiple "heads" scattered around the lake. Even a few floating ones. Your pic is consistent with those I have seen out there. Good find.
