B115204 Is the number on the Welch plug
That is your serial number and the engine is coming up as an MERCURY 20 HP M (Manual start) model number 1020207 which makes the year a 1987.

Search the model number online for a parts catalog.

Very easy to put electric start on that motor hard part is finding the tiller switch. You just need to find the parts or go to a mercury dealer and see if they still make a kit.

Yep, easy to do, but not cheap. Might be better off finding a parts motor with the parts you need - starter, wiring, flywheel.

it is fairly cheap to put electric start on most of the parts you can get used and you don't need the whole flywheel. Mercury uses a ring gear not a separate flywheel assembly like OMC. The hard part is the tiller switch which you can find on ebay as NOS

I think mine already has the button in the end of the tiller handle! Is it a little red push button? That is the only thing I could see it being because the kill switch is on the side of the motor

Red button is a kill switch not a start switch. The correct serial # to look up parts for your motor is 0B115204. Merc goes by serial # for parts look up get the carb kit that has the fuel pump and primer assembly gaskets.

@flyingscott: on iboats when I search the model number or the serial number nothing comes up... Do you know a part number I could search for the rebuild kit?
