Very true Eric. I hope to get it shrunk down to cushions and interior panels by end of June/ mid July. We shall see. Might have to change the thread topic to something else as well.
Hey Everyone. Been sllllllooooooowwwwwly working away at the seating in the back of the boat. I tend to think too long before I do something. But it is coming along. Got most of it built and mostly just screwed together. I want to make sure I get everything coated really well with resin before I put it in for good. Tomorrow I plan to cut the seat base tops so I can attach them, do some trimming on the seat back supports and then I want to drill 3" holes on the sides instead of big openings. More for a neat looking pattern. There is not much that passes through so I figure I should be ok. See how it goes.
To me, it is fitting together pretty good. I have a couple of small repairs to do on the doghouse. And the top piece that is covered with vinyl will be my first little try at sewing. I have been putting some serious thought into getting a machine from Sailrite. Reason why? Well we get a lot of requests to repair awning materials, tent ends on Hybrid trailers, Awning in a bag repairs etc. We source that out and I see how much they get for what is done. If I go with a new decent machine, I could do that on the side and make some extra $$$ Win win I feel.
Anywho, quick question for you paint guys.... Can I lay down Tremclad in the Stern and bilge area? Instead of Bilge paint? I am carpeting the rest of the boat.
Talk to you all soon and thanks for any comments and advice.
I figure less than what it was thats for sure. Soaked foam had to weigh a fair bit. I'm really not adding a lot more than what was in there. At most maybe 2 extra sheets of ply?
Back to backs are both one, consoles are removed, rotten wood, soaked foam, etc.
Hey everyone. Sorry for not posting. Haven’t had much time to work on the boat. Mostly getting the rear seating parts all sealed with resin. That’s about it.
I did find 5 buddies and we are going to roll the boat over tomorrow night and place it in the driveway so I can sand, fix, prime, and paint up to the stripe. Then back over on the trailer and keep moving forward on the inside. Nervous but excited. I am hoping to get the boy to maybe get some video of use flipping it. At least a bunch of pics.
Redtruck12 Quick question for you. Do you have pics and list of what you used for your Tremclad paint? Oil based paint, what hardener and what reducer? Thanks Brian.
Hey Dezi!
the paint was Tremclad Gloss white and the thinner was just a house brand from Canadian Tire.
the hardener was DuPont Centauri high gloss urethane activator.
i will send you pictures directly so to not jumble up your thread.
Thanks Brian. Got everything ready for the roll over I think. It doesn’t seem that heavy. I went to the back corner and I was able to lift it off the trailer myself. I know the rest of the boat needs to be lifted but I was surprised. We shall see what happens.
Woot Woot! Boat is flipped and sitting in the driveway The wife, my son my brother in law and myself did it . Me and the wife took it off the trailer, I laid a couple 4x4’s on the drive way then the 4 of us roooooooollllled it over. Only cracking I heard was the side plastic vent which I plan on replacing anyways. I will for sure get at least 6 or 8 of us when it’s time to
put it back on the trailer so we don’t wreck the new paint happy that is over and done with. Time for a beer!
Hi Everyone and happy weekend to all! Beautiful sunny weekend here in SW Ontario. Get some time to work on the hull prepping for paint. Thought I would get some pics up for all you guys/gals.
Here we are pulling the boat of the garage and laying it on the front lawn.
Was pretty easy with me and the wife. Kept the strap on and pushed it off slowly. Then unhooked the trailer from the truck and let it lift up so the boat could come off easy to the ground.
Then was time to flip.... My brother in Law, wife, son and myself did it. Wasn't bad at all..
Then this afternoon I decided to get some sanding done. Didn't do a whole lot but did get started. Will have a bunch more done tomorrow and hopefully close to getting some primer down next week.
Question for you guys. Can I use this to fill the gauges and scratches etc?
Says for above and below waterline... I am using Epoxy for the rest of the boat as well and will be painting not gelcoat. Please any advice would be greatly helpful as I want to get these areas fixed up tomorrow once we get the bottom all sanded... Thanks and have a great night!
