Just asking.. Had a buddy that had 15 yards or so.. Not using Poly resin. Epoxy... I will stick with the 17 oz non backed biax cloth..... Thanks though...

Had some time today to get some measurements updated for the transom and started to figure out my first bulkhead. Played around on Solidworks to see what it was going to look like. I think if this process works, I will draw all the bulkheads, transom, stringers and deck and make a model of it. Have each part printed out to scale, stick them on the plywood and then I can cut along the line :) This way I can also model the chases I need for my center console :)

Just having some fun while I wait for my supplies order to show up :)

Used the string method to get my measurements for the bulkhead. Then drew it up on solidworks and got this :)

and Bulkhead #1

Gonna play some more ;)

I know they don't have to be perfect. But hey if I have something pretty close, then I might even be able to build the stringers and bulkhead all together outside the hull and bed it all in at once ;) Maybe............

I did the keel and bulkhead together. Installed them. Then used the bulkheads to hold the stingers up off the hull.

Yep . That's where I got the idea from. Just reading your thread again for the second time ☺ want to get the designing phase figured out

I drilled 2 holes at a downward angle. Used 2 pins per side to hold the main stringers. Made it real easy to mark and trim the millions of curves in there. Then I glued and screwed them to the bulkheads. Used the glue gun to bed them in. Mine sat all winter after that so gassing off was not a issue. Masking tape on one side and fill the gap in.

I've just been using thick epoxy and cabosil, but if you want to be able to sand it use micro balloons instead.

Like Rem said. You will add the cabosil while mixing with a small drill attachment paddle like for paint. The consistency will be based on the amount of cab. you add. You can have as a paste and all the way up thick enought to work over head with out dropping. It's more of a feel thing than a recipe.
Don't overbatch or you can loose it from setting up. So just keep another batch ready to go. If the spead of spreading it out is slow the concentrated amount of the PB makes for fast heat. Spread out as quickly as possible in the areas your working. That slows down the heat reaction then get back into working it. :D
Hope this helps. I like it thick so it's not dropping and running all over the place. Ya wanna put it on your spreader turn it upside down and defy gravity.
Lots of guys says since its EEEpppOOOxxxy you don't need chopped glass. If I have a spot that I want to make sure is strong I add glass anyway. So waht no loss. If you do chopped glass take a pinch and let it soak in the resin till it sinks. Then it's saturated. Then add resin then mix with cab.

Thanks guys. Since I’m waiting for my plywood and cloth to show up I have pre planning everything so I can get to work next week. I hate waiting. It’s a nice cool sunny day here in Delhi and I can’t be doing too much :( sucks. Guess I will clean up the garage a bit from all the grinding dust and go look at my resin ;)

Another quick question. Stringers and transom are 3/4” ply. Bulkheads should be?? 1/2 or 3/4?

Thanks

He Dez, that is one sexy pile of WEST you have there!...You have lots of options with the fillers u selected.

For under deck stringers, the 403 and 404 are perfect.

The 403 is fibers and fills gaps good, and works really well with wood.

The 404 is like industrial strength glue and impact resistant...

Mixing the 2 makes a great pb

Or use straight 406.

The 406 is a general purpose glue filler, but it works great for vertical and overhead uses and can be mixed with the 410 fairing filler on the hull sides when u get above deck.

When doing appearance areas above deck, you would use 403, 404, or 406 for fillets with cloth, then 410 to be faired.

Ive used them all in many combinations and its kinda a create ur own formula for ur own needs, which is easy when u know the benefits of each.

Hey everyone. Been a while but been busy getting supplies needed for glassing. My fibreglass cloth order showed up today :) very happy. Just need to go and get some rollers, acetone, and brushes. Oh ya and plywood :). Can’t wait to get started. I decided this weekend I’m going to run hydro for a sub panel to the garage so I can install some baseboard heaters out there to keep it warmer for the winter. also some more lighting. This will also give me the chance to get everything cleaned up and organized again.

I have have a question...... I was reading some posts and saw WOOG mentioned to make sure you have lots of measurements before demo. I did a bunch for stringers, transom, bulkheads but not for the deck. I did (I hope) a good job of supporting the hull off the trailer but worried now things aren’t going to be “square “ going back in? Nothing has moved around. Just the hull flexing when I’m working on there. Cap never came off. Should I be worried?

Please help ease my anxiety

thanks

Another question about the keel. Can I run PB all the way down to fill it in and maybe a layer or 2 of 17oz? I’m not putting any tube or drainage in as I will be sealing it so no water should get in there. Only drainage will be a shutoff valve for the gastank.

Thanks

I spent a few summers in Delhi when I was in my teens, out to Turkey Point a few times, you going to be in the big lake when you're back on the water?
