ok as a 3.0 guy i will tell you what to do , dont be scaredthere is a old bon ami trick where you mix a bit of bon ami into some trans fluid or marvel mystery oil at around 2500 rpm you start dripping a lil into the carb it will smoke but what this does is reset the rings , gm had a bulletin in 1957 that described the procedure, and cat did it with diesel engines for years,after you do this check the compression you will notice a change for the better most times , also 150 psi is what all of the good mercury 3.0 i have tested had and that equates to a 9.5 compression ratio . the bon ami trick is a last resort of sorts but could work for you , if worried just change oil after .
