Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

Yeah the stringers and bulkheads will all be up off the hull minimum 1/4". Right now I'm just building a jigsaw puzzle of the components if you will. All final trim and fit will have the foam shims in place. There will be a drain tube under the tank. The plan is for the tank to rest on a platform inside the opening and be a sealed area. Drain tube will run under that. Even after deciding to pack up and just relax I had a cold one(beer) and the radio was playing in the background I break out the vise grips and started in on the bolts that where holding down the Helm seat bases. Let me say I tried this same tool before with no success, well it must have been a good beer cause I got both removed. Felt pretty good after that.:D

You sound like your making good progress. I know that grinding is a nasty job. Still got lots ahead of me as well.

Quick question, what is the name of the program you using to draw over the pictures and will it work on a mac?

Big project! I'd like to tag along and see what I can learn.

The 1/4" foam for use under the bulkheads, etc., is that a rigid foam or weather stripping type of foam or does it even matter at all? Thanks.

I have a couple of pieces of the pink foam I salvaged from a packing shipment. It is about 2" thick so I'll just cut a bunch and use that. I knew it would come in handy.image.jpg

The program was basic...took the pic to paint to make the edits. Not the best but it works. I have a good other design program but that would tale me a long time to show off the stuff that is so simple to comprehend.
Gots me some whole 1/2 chickens smoking on the grill with some crazy cool quick thought onion butterflies.

Everyday stuff from home deblow. Pink, 1/4". Cut little squares...spread out like every few feet. Paste them down with waht you like. Ie; resin, glue... then set wood, fill all gaps!!!!No air left or the same nightmare starts again.

Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

Here is what I knocked out today. I went a little of the grid by some others. I saved a portion of the side of the boat floor. Added an underside and also left scraps of " fiberglass" to set my new stringers in. I grinded, cleaned, soaped then used bleached to kill off the green stuff. I have to go.
Chickens cooking, wife up me butt and have to take my son to work. Good yaps to all!

I'm slightly getting concerned now. You have the same Ryobi tools I use...others are alot better! Cold beer makes you work to fix it! And your start thread date is the same date as my Birthday.
Also the boats are similar.

Major Ditto....I have to go wash this stuff off. All in all a great couple of days since the weather let me in to bite away at it. I needed the $$ but pushed off side jobs till next week to get a sense of completion.
TIRED. My little Girl looks great and I hear alot of the birds chirping there *** off outside. One in particular I never heard before. Climate change? Must be mating time now.

Wow....Those last two pics shows off how much work you've done on the boat. Looks Great! Am I seeing the ocean in the second pic? Now I'm jealous. Just push the boat to the water and off you go.

Here's a question. Does/Did your steering cables run under the boat, on the gunnel, or inside your gunnel? I'm trying to determine where I want to put mine and serviceability is my direction.

Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

All the cables ran under the gunnel but I'm going to change this and cut some holes into the bulkheads and run a conduit from the helm to the transom and leave a spare fish tape in for future upgrades. I also only want 1(one) hose if any out of the transom just can't bear to cut to many holes in my pristine transom.
