Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

Hello kcassells, haven't done much lately. Work has been the priority. Had a setback that cut into the budget, had to replace 2 a/c units at my house. Have to keep mama happy plus right now I'm off the island helping my son pack up this things from his dorm for the summer holiday. Man finances taking a hit right now. I'll be back home on Saturday and hopefully will get something done. Hopefully the weather is good

Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

Hey, Z, totally understand. So glad my little girl is out of college but my son/18 yo still has a lot of decisions to make that well of course
will impact my $$. On another great note, ha ha my wifes car pooped the deck. Looks like 800.00 for repairs so guess what..no wood for dasboot this weekend.
Well at least I am working on the Teak wood and of course the other million things to do.
Good Luck, Education is the key. Whats your sons Major if I can ask?
Like WOG says, their is always something to do and those who keep punching it out are the ones who float da boat!

Re: Cobia 24' rebuild project.

He declared his major in meteorology at Penn State. He will be interning this summer at the local weather station as an observer/forecaster and also working on data collection on ocean temperature during hurricane conditions. We have a Bio station that does all of these ocean studies that has asked him to join and assist. They have some type of ocean glider that is equipped to gather data. I don't fully understand all of it but I know he is stoked.

Make sure he calls me when he knows the date of the sunami to hit pa. {spelled wrong**
Sounds lie he's gonna make you Proud.

Man, looking at that map gives you a sense of WOW! So many people from so many areas. Yeah really proud of how he is doing and his focus on study and uni life. Penn State is no small university. Hell, Beaver stadium can hold Bermuda's population and still have lots of space. I'm hoping he will intern at Accuweather for a year and get his Bsc degree. Right now he is well on his way, this year he's on the Dean's list.

PSU is a city! I've been there a few times. Very impressive. Additionally they have satalite locations all over the place. My son competed there a couple of times. They hold the "Special Olympics" there. He was doing swimming and dressage. We hung out up there ea. time for a week. We made a mini vacation of it.
Accuweather, is based in Phila. right? I mean they are one of our biggest weather stations here.

There is an Accuweather about 12 minutes drive from the main campus. He is at the main campus and your right it is a small city.

Very good for your son, he will make you proud!
Been just diddlin on the teak and it's time consuming but so sweet to see when it's done. So anyway...like you $$....But I did do an overall on my next moves, ie; stringers, bulkheads, epoxy/resin, wood and with this temp I will be jumping into it next week or so at the latest. Half the boats wood is cut to fit, just needs some trimming, then sealed, then installed. After that the whole back end of the boats wood will go in. Everything under the cuddy is pc. work. fit, cut, glue......Can't wait to get out of there. Butta shesa looking agood!

:facepalm:Just up under where you first step into cabin. In the drain area appears to be some foam. Need to figure out best tool/tools and approach as I will be basically laying on my side.

Holy Crap.... this new set up is like a pain in my bells. Log in, log out....blah, bla, bla.....pics must still be a blast. Anyway...wah, wah, wah me... this is the best ste in town and
that's all I have to say about it. Sure glad the moderators asked the users what would be cool to have for use.
To cut to the short. You will be on your side, back, belly and cursing like a banshee. That spot to clean up, grind, prep, re-wood is the worst of the whole boat.
Definitely requires a SIX PACK ATTITUDE.
Then you have to figure out the bestest way to reapply the wood. I am right in that part now and all day my head spins on simplicity, proper installation and safety.
This is the toughest spot. Bondo said awhile ago it's like wood and glue stick building time/stick and glue. That's the approach and it's time consuming not to mention
a tough spot to work.
Thought I waould glass up 2 pcs. tonight but at least got a 1/2 of one done. So time, money, family, lol are the other battles.
Send some pics later. Gonna try phot bucket. I signed in but duh...it never completed. I'll try again later.
Ya know I don't see any other boats like ours on the site/current doing this stuff. If their are they don't chime in.

That's a nice clean hull. Lots of work but all worth it in the end. Anything worth doins is worth over doing :) All the hours and pain are forgotten after the first big fishing trip :)

Yeah that is what I keep telling myself. I knew it would be work and challenging but it will be all worth it in the end.
