Thanks. Managed to start er up today for the first time this season as well, at least that doesn't appear to be an issue yet this year. Here's the game plan :
1) get 1/4" treated ply. Read about some brand that's apparently superior stuff, but barring that, I guess I'll just get the best stuff I can find. I have a local lumber yard
2) coat it in resin to prep, then fasten/resin/glass/resin? Since I'll be matching it to the existing decking, I'm thinking polyester?
3) remove rest of carpeting. How do I get rid of the residue? Sanding seems like a bad idea. Any chemicals?
. . - if I get rid of the residue, I paint the deck with oil enamel
. . - if not, I get those non slip mats
4) took some measurements. Going to get some upholstery quotes
4b) install new seats
5) finish the shower in the bathroom before my wife kills me
6) hopefully go boating at some point
