A little side note. The job would be much easier if you were to take a orbital sander and cut off all that black stuff...the use the marine tex to fill and form a smooth hull bottom. Just a thought great job carry on.

Well I got out on the water today... had my handy spreadsheet that H made... ran up and down the intercoastal once each way... swapped props... did it again. Then later on in the day I had my shirt off and of course I didn't notice it fell out of the boat... with the pages in it. F&&&&&&&&CK!!!!!!

Well anyway the repairs did't fix it. It's exactly the same.

The 4 blade 21" prop performed slightly better than the 3 blade 23"... the 4 blade had a better hole shot and was 1 mph faster on top end, while the 3 blade was faster (by about 2-3 mph) at cruising speeds between 3500 and 4500 rpms.

I will get out again and do the spreadsheet and try not to lose it this time.

On a side note, even with the tabs off the 23" prop still had a pretty damn good holeshot.

And I need a jack plate... gonna start looking for one. I'm tired of moving this darn motor up and down every week. I liked it best one hole down from where it is now.

Here's the semi-final product... have a couple little voids yet but overall it's pretty decent. Probably going to fill them in and re-sand in a few days.

Well this has been fun, but I'm embarrased to say I've solved the problem...

I read on the interwebz that the tach is supposed to be in the 5 setting... but as a matter of fact it's supposed to be on the 6.

So when I'm reading 6,000 rpms I'm really at 5,000. And 37 mph at 5,000 rpms gives me 13% slip.

Close this nonsense... it's time for a drink. :faint2:

Glad to hear you got it figured out and you repaired the keel in the process.

plus you managed a nice cleanup and repair of a hull issue so the confusion helped you solve that problem at least
