That bites(no pun intended, but it was kinda good). One of my favorite shows, as alot of you. The series wont be able to survive without those vessels. Top 2 out there.....

With Sig, the Hillstrands, and Phil gone, I don't know if I'll watch the show anymore.

I didn't catch (pun intended) what Hansen's issue was??

The Hilstrands do NOT look comfortable in a suit/tie.

I always thought the Hilstrands were entertaining but a bit wreckless. You could see the money going to their heads, in the last season-IMO.

Re: Deadliest Catch crews Quit

well in a way i'm glad. of the half dozen shows i like to watch any more, that one was high on my list.
gives me one more reason to stay at the lake and not go home to watch TV.

i think discovery might have gotten greedy and tried to milk there hit a little to far.

will miss them. i was thinking the other day, how is it going to be be with cap. phill gone?
after reading this interview--------------

i guess we can still make do with the re-runs. i still enjoy watching them. and when i watch the re-runs even now, i pick up on stuff i missed when i viewed before

It's actually a smart move. It forces Discovery to decide whether the lawsuit or the franchise is more important.

Its one of my favorite shows. I want to know the whole story before I blame anyone. I recall Discovery channel had legal problems also with Kate and the eight bugger pickers so maybe discovery is causing the problems. CATCHING ALLIGATORS is my favorite show now anyway..

Just heard about it on one of our local radio stations too. They said that Discovery will look for other captains. IMO, if they don't keep either the Northwestern or the Time Bandit, the show will fold.......

Was time to move on anyway, how many times can you watch those guys pull the traps and yell & scream. Think everything that could happen, has happened on the show. Lets get more rod/reeling fishing shows on.

I'm interested in watching different captn's. and crews working together. Personalities are one thing....all 4 I enjoyed and will miss..Change is sometimes a good thing.

Let's not crucify Discovery.

The Hilstrands signed a contract and did not hold up their end. What part of that is Discovery's fault?

I rarely watch TV anyway, so no biggie in my estimation.

Re: Deadliest Catch crews Quit

Those guys do more than crab fishing.
Looks like the demands from Discovery in follow-up etc started to conflict with their other activities.
Discovery has a sending schedule to follow, those guys have a fishing/seasonal schedule to follow.
No fishing, no payment to crew and boat.
In Sig's case, it looks like Discovery crossed a line of tolerance about personal incidents in the family.
Whatever reason they have to pull out, they have my full support.
I'll miss the show, but I respect their decision fully.
I hope Discovery loose big if going to court!
These guys are independent individuals, and not some ordinary Joe in a 9-5 job.
Probably a kind of people that the suit-and-tie boardroom people of Discoverey is not able to handle on the same level of understanding.

That is a very important point. Discovery had a lot of money invested in this spinoff show that the hillstrands agreed to.

People are blaming discovery when it sounds to me like people should be shunning the hillstrands for not sticking with their word.

Shame on them, sounds to me like their word isn't worth anything, even when it's on paper.

Yes, Thank you.

A contract is a contract. At least in my world it is. Fishing schedules aside.

They should not have signed it if they could not uphold it. If something came up, unforseen, WORK IT OUT.
