Re: Deadliest Catch crews Quit

These Captains most certainly signed a contract, but you must remember the cloth that they are made of. These guys are not actors and are not used to the celebrity life. I will take someone with character to be a friend over "Hollywood" types. Sig quit because he saw what Discovery was doing to the Hillstrands. He said " Us Captains stick together". That my friends is placing honor and integrity over money and fame, and something very much missed in this day and time.
Do you think Discovery is really suing because of the money or because someone stepped on their toes? I mean c'mon, deny what the people want, cry when they don't get their way, and blame others. Kinda sounds like a Government I know.

I'm pretty sure when a commercial fisherman tells someone to take a hike they mean it.:p

Yes, but these are no ordinary commercial fishermen, they are stars with egos to go along this their stardom. ;)

Agreed. They are not just fisherman. Just look at their websites where they are hawking shirts, hats, coffee mugs....

Ya the show has defiantly run its course. Can't have a bunch of drama on a small boat in the middle of the Bearing Sea 400 miles from nowhere. However what makes for a smooth running boat makes for boring TV...gotta make something up to get the ratings. I would have like to see one more season just to see how Phil's boys were doing.

Money and fame change most people.

I would hope it would change me:). I'm pretty sure the wife wouldn't mind a little upgrading and maybe even a vacation more than every 15 or 20 years.

Re: Deadliest Catch crews Quit

Did anybody watch IRT in India the other night? I had a hard time watching it all the way through. Made me cringe too much. Those Indians drive like maniacs!! The IRT truck drivers drove Indian trucks made out of wood. Not much HP to go up mountains. Indians passing them on curves over and over. Many near head on collisions. One older driver didn't even make it out of the city before he quit. He knocked off a car door and was run into by another car. He was almost lynched by a mob even though it wasn't his fault. India has no rules for right of ways etc. No traffic rules etc. No building codes for bridges. No safety standards for roads. People and animals all over the roads. Just insanity! No way would I have agreed to go over there and drive. The old guy who quit already had health problems. I think they show Lisa quitting in the next show. Lisa said shes never been that scared in her life. Many killed daily driving in those mountains. I bet on any given street too.
India must think they just have too many people and therefore they are expendable LOL

I did watch it. That was crazy! Like you said, it was tough to watch at times. Alex was the only smart one and bailed the first day. I don't think he even made it out of town. That Rick guy was a reject from IRT, I believe. I'm not sure what they're being paid, but it isn't near enough......

Ya Alex saw right off that it wasn't worth losing your life over. Lisa wasn't on camera as much as that reject from ice road. I wonder why? Maybe he was more animated and that is why? Or Lisa had help driving? Nothing wrong with that if she did because that place is not a fair test of anyone's driving skills. Just a free for all.
I also watched the final episode of Ice Road. They tried to throw some drama in but it just wasn't working. Childs play between 2 truckers was silly. "I want to go around you but not while you are sitting on side of the road" "I will wait until he is going down the road and make sure he goes into the ditch" "I am very upset it didn't play my you go into a ditch game" Well duh! Waaaaaahhhhhhhh. "I am going to tell on him Waaaaaahhhhh". Boss pretty much said he was the idiot and he was the one who got into trouble LOL Pretty stupid! I think this show is about done for.

As I said earlier, this show was done for several years ago when the decided they had to create conflict to keep people watching. Kind of like most, if not all, other "reality" shows. Real reality is kind of boring to watch.

The clown that complained to the boss that he wasn't allowed to pass said Ray put his safety in danger. Nooooo, you put yourself in danger wanting to pass another trucker when both of you have oversize loads. Yeah, that whole little scene was pretty ridiculous. I see Carlisle basically said Hughy won't be back. Fine with me. He's another idiot.
