After further review, I do not believe that what you have is an anchor locker. It would be useless for that function. I think I agree about the "hole" being used as a leverage point to remove it from the mold.

A drain would be much too difficult to install, and probably not work well.

The problem to be addressed is where the water is coming in. Once that has been corrected then it can be used for the other functions you mentioned.

The joint does not have to move to be a source of the leak. The movement would only serve to indicate how severe the joint is damaged. If the screws are still tight, but the sealing qualities are compromised then there will be little to no movement but still water intrusion.

It appears that the carpet can be removed from the compartment? If so, I suggest removing it until the leak is repaired to prevent staining and damage to it. It can then be reapplied.

There is a product that was advertised and demonstrated on "Shipshape TV"
that absorbed odors and was granules of some sort hug in bags. It was reported to work for your problem. Don't remember the name, but some searching on the "World Wide Web" should prove fruitful.

(And no, I don't really talk like this , it's just my fingers have a mind of their own.)

"And no, I don't really talk like this"...

Hey, I'm freezing my butt off right now, it's 55 degrees and dropping. I was going to take the wife to lunch by boat Sunday to a restaurant on the Intercoastal, but she said if it's this cold, heck no!!.

Go figure!

Beer sounds good, and there's a place that's got wings and burgers I have been wanting to try, so come on down. I'll wait for you.

But only a little while!

Not romance, hunger.

And I have to check out the boat as I just got it back from the shop and we are going on a cruise to St. Augustine from Daytona on Thanksgiving weekend.

Our boating club likes to make an annual cruise at that time, called a "red flannel" cruise. It's usually our last one of the year.

It's about 65 from where we put in. Trailer from Lakeland to Halifax Harbor Marina. Spend Friday and Saturday come back Sunday. Wife really enjoys St. Augustine, makes the trip special.

I tell ya I can't imagine spending that much time on my boat, seems like the best I can do is ten hours before the kids are whining and crap. Someday I will get to do a run like that though!! Sounds great! be nice to spend a couple weeks out there and just boat it. But that means buying another boat too!! Decent size cruiser probably.

The trip is about 2.5 to 3 hrs long, and we stay at a motel. No place to sleep on our 22' Seacat.

your boats 22'? and your making a 65 mile run on the ocean? Granted I'm sure your not going far from the coast, is your boat a cuddy? I know I know I'm land locked and always have been but I just assumed that our sized boats would take a pretty good beating to make a run like that. I learned yet another thing from you Bob Thank you! I would be in the same situation as you probably do the motel thing but I at least know I have options.

We will be traveling up the intracoastal, which is a protected waterway that runs from Canada around the tip of Florida and up to the Anclote River. At that point you have to go out into the Gulf Of Mexico at least 13 miles to be sure you don't run aground. Then you catch a couple rivers to the Mississippi, into the Great Lakes. The route is called "The Great Loop" (I think), and is something I would love to do. Only thing holding me back is money - for a bigger boat, fuel, food, marinas and breakdowns.

Our boat is a dual console catamaran (which is a fancy name for a bowrider that has a head. It sports a half tower and I have a full and partial enclosure for it.

We take numerous "cruises" during the year but we haven't gone out into the Atlantic any distance yet. My wife is trying to convince me that I want to go to the Bahamas, but hasn't succeeded yet.

We do regularly go out into the Gulf for fishing and diving, but the most has been 15 miles. There are hardcore fisherman that go 30 to 50 miles in our size boat. Just depends on the weather.

I have heard of the ICW but never thought much about it until you told me how big it is, WOW I had no idea it went up the entire east coast. You guys on the coast have it made, I have a couple lakes within 20 miles of me that are a couple miles across, within 200 miles a couple more that are 10-20 miles long. I have to try that ICW someday, not the whole thing but definately some of it.

I'm back:D...but only for a couple of days. We're adding on to the house, and the addition is a large room with three picture windows overlooking the lake. 14' vaulted ceiling, 2X12 rafters 16" on center. It's a lot of work, but it's going to be incredible when we're done. I'm going back Wednsday and coming home Thursday night or Friday afternoon. He's renovating the whole house, though. I help him any time he needs. We're hoping to have all the rafters up and the roof sheathed and dried in by Thursday night. He's completely changed the floor plan downstairs, added and altered rooms, and when we're done with all the drywall, we've got three pallats of hardwood flooring to put down:eek:... I know this is not the forum for this kind of work, but if you're interested, I'll snap a few pictures, and I'll include the lake, just to make it appropriate;).
