At a job interview I was asked if I knew how to use the tools on a table.----After taking just 1 measurement with a 1-2 " micrometer , I asked interviewer if he wanted more done.-----He said --" good enough " young man.-----When you come from a shop where tolerances of + /- 0.00002 can be held it was all easy for me.
Lol I probably wouldn’t have got the job :(

Blunt statement.------There have been no surprises for me in your struggle with this project.-----I think I suggested you would find a corroded mess in post #7

Ok so where do i go from here ? I need a plan ........ I want to put this boat back together the way it is supposed to be and to the best of my abilities. I can not spend a fortune on this as this is a WANT and not a NEED so it needs to be cost effective. It does not need to be on the water this summer or next.

I think ?
Powerhead
- Detailed inspection and cleaning of the BLOCK
- Inspect motor plate and muffler for freezing damage
- hone cylinders (will have help from mechanic friend)
Boat
- Pull pump inspect
- Figure out where leak is between pump and hull

Start to spend money
- crank
- bearings
- gasket kit

i am guessing my measurements were off because i was using the rear ratchet for some and not for others so this was giving me a different tightness ?

I am into this for about $100 so far
bearings for trailer $60
used parts $25
800 grit sandpaper $?

but I am having a blast trying to make something from nothing and learning lots along the way :)

Local Guy has this listed with a parts motor says it’s a 2000
Google thinks it’s a 93-98 due to the stickers

What is the difference in ocean pro and non ?

I am not sure what you mean by your comment of “step aside now” but I do appreciate your help, this is comming from a guy who knows zero about outboards and who has to research everything. I am trying to learn along the way in this wrenching adventure.

so i cleaned the rods, bearings, piston pins last night .... i sorted it to good, minor imperfection and messed up.
I will get
4 good pistons
1 good rod
4 good big end bearings
1 good piston pin
I did not sort out the needle bearings

@Faztbullet thanks for the info, i was talking to this guy about his parts motor and almost pulled the trigger

the more i look into this the more i feel like i should just buy a full running outboard motor to re power it ..........

You should look at reman'd power heads first. Local place here has them about $1600 with new cranks, new pistons, etc

So where am I ?

I have been hardcore looking for parts or a donor motor

Soooooo

older 115hp have a different crank then say the 92 - 97 (i have one that came in the box of parts I bought, I will lay them side by side to measure the difference in the end and report back)

can the older motor with the longer crank be used on the turbojet ?

the spline is the same

If i find a older motor will the crank bottom out before the motor plate sits on the mounts ? wonder if it is possible to shim up the mounts ?
