Re: Evinrude XP150 not accelerating

All else is a waste of time if you have a blown cylinder..
I'll try that. I think I'll also try to decarb the entire engine one more time, this time I'll make a double batch of the fuel mixture, so I'll be sure to have enough to finish. After that if the compression doesn't come up more, I'll spray some of the mixture in the cylinder and let it set overnight. I can see the top of the piston and there aren't any pits, so to me that's at least one bonus.

Here are some other findings...

Compression with all plugs pulled, throttle open with a snap-on gauge. (only hesitation is the adapter is maybe an 1/8" +/- shorter than the plug lengths) #1 is 92psi, #2 is 84psi, #3 is 96psi, #4 is 87psi, #5 is 96psi, & #6 is 60psi. #1, #3, & #5 are all on the starboard side, with #1 being the top piston.

There is some oily residue at the bottom of the exhaust cover, looks like it's been accumulating over a period of time. Not sure if it's anything to worry about, but figured should mention it. I don't see any other signs of leakage anywhere else on the motor or heads.

I looked into the carbs and don't see any signs of cracks and it is obvious someone has worked on them at one point or another. The previous owner said he had them rebuilt 2 years ago.

The prop spins freely, both direction, in neutral. When in gear pushed forward, the prop spins both directions when a fair amount of force is applied and I can feel the engine turning over and exhaust coming out. When in Reverse, the prop feels tight, then it turns, then tight, then it turns. Does this in both directions. Kind of a catch, release, catch, release, if that makes sense. Not sure if that's how it should be, but that's how it is.

And yes, the pulse for the fuel pump is off of the #6 cylinder, which is the one with 60psi.

I also have the torque specs on the head, but don't have the bolt pattern if anyone has that, until my manual gets here.

Thanks again...
