Exhaust bellow?

I am a first time boat owner so I know next to nothing about boat motors. I just just my boat out for the second time yesterday. When I was loading my boat onto the trailer I noticed a hose that was full of holes. So on my way home I stopped at a boat store and showed them the hose that I needed to replace. If I'm remembering right they said it was the exhaust bellow. I bought a new one and went home to change it. I was thinking it would be fairly easy, after all it's just a hose held on by two clamps. Just getting the old one off was a pain. After getting the old one off I put the end facing the front of the boat on first. It took awhile because of limited room but I got it on. I'm thinking the other end will be easy because it's way easier to reach. WRONG!!!!!! I could of swore they gave me the wrong size bellow because it seems way too short. But they assured me it's the right one. For the life of me I can't stretch this thing out, get it where it goes and tighten the clamp. It's about to drive me insane! There has to be a trick to getting this done. Can someone please help me? I'm not sure exactly what type motor I have. But I took a couple pics.

Re: Exhaust bellow?

The bellows are replaced with the drive removed, and there is a special tool to help get it on. Since you will be pulling the drive when you do your winterizing (or fall maint, if you live in a warm climate). Wait until then to do the exhaust bellow install. It will not hurt anything to run without it. It will be a little louder, and if you are running a little rich, you will get more soot deposit on the stern, but nothing major.

OR

Take the new exhaust bellow back to the dealer and tell them that you would like to get an exhaust tube. It mounts in the front with a clamp(just like the one you already installed), but it has a slip fit with the drive, no rear clamp to struggle with.

The new ones for OMC have slits or holes that go on the bottom of the bellow.
Its for exhaust relief...very normal..

Next time start your own thread, you will get better response...
