Sanded and waxed the fillets. Even got three hatch gutters glassed in with three wide strips of csm. Tomorrow I'll glass the rest and add the last big layer of biax on the gutter outsides/stringers. Then I'll remove the molds and sand, wipe with acetone and pb fillet the gutters from the inside. Then it's almost done :)

Looking good Red! I like your attention to detail, it is the sign of a craftsman. Keep it up!

Gutters glassed, started with one of the bigger biax pieces and noticed I have to clean up a bit before they can be glassed. So tomorrow some sanding and prefitting/glassing. Soon the crawling and jumping over the stringers is over! My back is really feeling it...

Actually, one question popped up today. What sort of experiences do you guys have of non skid materials? I've been recommended Treadmaster mat. It seems perfectly plausible on all other accounts except the epoxy gluing bit. I'd rather avoid that if at all possible. My concerns/priorities are: 1. Grip 2. Longevity 3. Cleanable 4. Ok on bare feet 5. Looks Someone even suggested five bar aluminium sheets. Would burn some skin in the summer though :)

Got tired of doing the same stuff day in day out, so I decided to glass everything in one go. The night was warm and now after 13h of glassing I've only got a few tabs left to do tomorrow. Should've eaten something more substantisl than a banana and I probably would've gotten everything done today :)

Marathon glassing!!!!!! Oh, to be young again.............:)

A couple posts ago you were asking about non skid methods/materials. Where are you talking about? The deck? I used crushed walnut shells mixed into gelcoat for a non-skid finish on my interior deck. If I was to do this on an exterior deck I'd go with three coats rather than the two coats I applied inside. I only added the shells into the top coat mixture.

Young and young, I had a real hard time getting out of bed. But the whole wet on wet thing saved a lot of time because of all the sanding I could skip. So I think I'll continue like that, prep a lot of stuff snd then glass in one go.

And I'll study the walnut shells! Sounds interesting. And yeah it's for the hatches and the exterior in general.

Thanks guys! I'm feeling more and more confident with the glassing part, can't wait to start making the hatches and interior moldings. The satisfaction you get when you remove the outer crap and find some really smooth glass underneath is quite remarkable.

Got the boat finally registered with the local authorities, had to decide on a name while I was at it. The boat was named "Laura" before, but now it'll change to something quite different. Has to do with a rebellious submarine captain from a well known work of fiction. But I'll get back to that closer to splash-time.

Now the gutter insides are filleted and glassed. It's getting real cold and on top of that my diesel-heater ran out of juice tonight. So it'll probably take a few days for the resin to set. After that I'll glass mounts for the fuel filter, water strainer, hydraulic hoses, fuel hoses and bilge pumps. I hope to get the topcoat on before it's too cold, but it's getting real tight...

...and if I recall correctly that ritual includes sending a sample of Lakka to every iboats member replying to your thread or the ocean gods will be pissed!

Rick, you seem to be in the know when it comes to local pagan rituals! I promise to keep a bottle of the stuff available on the boat with a special iboats label on for the numerous occasions you'll be visiting! I'll just need to dare one ocean...

And rest assured, some sort of raindance alcohol induced Poseidon ritual will take place for the new name! Any excuse for boat related fun will do.

Remember I'll be in Denmark next summer and it looks to only be a day or two trip via boat. Can you stop at Bornholm on the way and pick up my brother? He hasn't been off the island in a few years....

Sure thing, I'll keep the Lakka-bottle filled and ready. It's going to be a bit of a race to be done by july, but it's definitely doable! And if I've splashed in time then I'll be glad to pick your brother up on the way!
