You could also try a weighted shower curtain type setup and skip any door. :noidea:

I suggested the curtain to my significant other and the idea was shot down in it's infancy. The accordion is a bit similar to what I imagined doing with hinges and teak. But I think the swinging door might still be a winner. I realized that the staircase/step doesn't need two steps, one will do just fine. That opens up the possibility of a 18-20 inch door which should be fine.

Not putting a magazine/newspaper rack in the head will result in shorter stays. :D

ha ha...
I see a partial pocket door, glass sliding door, granite or solid surface material deck with a water closet lid that is concealed, overhead flower shower head and a steam shower sauna. Teak slated floor and concealed floor drain.

What - No Jacuzzi? You want Red's lady to tough it. Is the hot tub out on deck? LOL

I'll talk to my glass fabricators to see if that's feasable in that space, probably only could be @ 3' high. Lot a stress on moving water.
Say it once and done..."Kitchens, baths, beds....women rule." After that the rest of your life can be very miserable.

As to the height issue, have you considered a hinged hatch for the top, possibly with canvas sides similar to a Volkswagen camper?

The inches go surprisingly well in with metrics if you ignore precision with tolerances!

The Volkswagen idea is quite good really. Especially if I'll just hinge the ceiling so that the tall guys can get it up when needed. Thanks!

:pound:I really can't think of a comment here that the mods would not omit. :embarassed: I do like the Volkswagen idea, but about the tall guys and their inability to uh....oh....nevermind.

Hatch time again. This time I drilled pilot holes and used thin screws to keep everything in place. The melamine underneath is in pretty bad shape anyway, so I figured a couple of holes makes no difference.

Tomorrow evening I'll add the first layer of gelcoat and start glassing on thursday.

On the head idea could you find large sections of cardboard and create it in place, to check it out before actual construction.

Just my .02

Red, how many layers of material do you normally use to built the hatches. I see your forms are built. I have a few hatches to build myself and will try to copy your proven method. Great work! :thumb:
