Two weeks ago I posted about an overheating problem I was having with a VP 5.0 L Gxi-E. The raw water pump, impeller, thermostat, exhaust manifolds and risers, all hoses and fittings were replaced. He said hes gone from top to bottom checking and replacing any and everything that could be making the engine overheat. After all of that, I am still getting a temp. alarm. My mechanic and I took it out this past Friday morning and he checked the temp of just about every component imaginable on the engine with an IR gun. Everything was running cool. He said the only thing that was hotter than normal was the oil filter. He said hes never run across and oil filter feeling that hot before and said he didnt know if it was normal or not. He pulled the dip stick and the said the oil itself was cool. Has anyone encountered this before? He said he is going to replace the temp sender next. Would this trigger the alarm if its malfunctioning? Don provided a overheating diagnostic guide the last time I posted and me and the mechanic went over it and he said he performed all tests given and they lead nowhere. If anyone has any insight, I would love to hear what you have to say.
